I'm kinda annoyed with Kang In Ha. Tae Oh basically does everything for him. He sets the table and all In ha has…
Hye Won is really annoying. Kang In Ha and Hyewon deserve each other i think.

I am surprised by Song Joon Ki's acting. Hes really improved.
No, i like him a lot. He stuck out more for me in Sungkyunwan than the male lead.

I am surprised by Song Joon Ki's acting. Hes really improved.
Yeah, if they stuck to the original script and left out the romance the performance would have been more potent. But i am glad he is back to doing what he loves after scandal.

I think the romance part was the weak side of the movie. Focus on immigration would have been better from my point…
I am surprised by Song Joon Ki's acting. Hes really improved.

On Captivating the King Feb 7, 2024
Definetly, interesting to watch. It is rated at 8.2 but i rate it 6.5. The plot is good but it is leaving the characters behind. The characters seem wispy compared to the strength of the drama and could be blown away at a moments notice through some political machinations. This is why i dont rate it at 8 even though it is a solid watch. I prefer strong characters with wit than an exciting story. If characters dont match upto the story's gait then they are not believable or weak narrative instruments.

Three main characters problems:
1. Mong woo: for some reason teams up with myung ha even though he wrote a letter falsely accusing the king and blamed her, mong woo, as author of the letter. Why team up with myung ha even though he blamed both main characters?
2. King: Blames mong woo even though he should be aware (or half-aware) it was myung ha and not her who was the author? Condemns hong jang, a former slave to death even though in the first episode he loves hearing how people like him for freeing korean slaves in China. Why this contradiction?
3. Queen dowager: Keeps spying on Lee in even though she should be on his side.

How to trust any of these characters?

If they resolve the enmity and contradictions of the characters by midway or episode 10 then it might finish strongly and i might rate it 8.

I really dont get the logic of the king letting her die. Or her reasons for revenge. I guess it will get cleared…
@AN Well, in a any story the protagonist serves as an instrument for exposition but here we (including the protagonist are in the dark about what happened with the succession. I think if this show was three seasons long (or sixty plus episodes) and they showed her life outside while she is on the run and she learnt of the betrayal of the new king from village rumors, or letters from her advisors over the span of a few episodes then it would be more believable. Either the protagonist is in the dark about the kings actions and her reasons are confusing making her a bad narrative instrument
or she is not aligned as good or siding with justice . I think it is the former and it is bad writing.

I really dont get the logic of the king letting her die. Or her reasons for revenge. I guess it will get cleared up much later in episode 12 or 13 maybe. But i cant wait around that long.

Yes, but she just lies. I cant stand her reasoning. Why did she lie to the king but tells myungha "No, i am here for revenge"? I can trust her as a protagonist.

Havent you seen episode 4? How would she be by Jin Han's side if Jin Han told his gaurds to kill Mong Woo. She is using the same alias, mong woo, so why would he suddenly trust someone he wanted killed.
