This is such an amazing reply. Now that you point it out one by one and make comparison, the whole drama really suffers from bad writing all around.
And you are right most of RJL's female leads are written as strong women despite they might not have martial arts like Jiang Ci or even Ban Xia from TDHR or Bai Cai from Burning Flames. While Cang Cang is constantly written as his weakness despite she has martial arts and supposed to be clever. Yet, we cant see that in the drama since the writer keeps undermine her character. Its indeed frustrating.
Absolutely love the ending. This drama is perfect in my book. They close everything perfectly even the fate of the villains and how justice is served at the end.
The scene where He Xian paused before answering his Father on the phone is just phenomenal. You can know the heavy answer he needs to give at that time. Then when his son told him that he is is no longer afraid. 😭

It did focus on that. The drama has been focusing on the economy of Macau since the very beginning. Even when Yinwan work at the club again, it's due to her wanting to get intel on enemies and He Xian continue to become the bridge between Chinese people and Portuguese merchants. I find the story compelling since they really focus on this and not romance. Even the romance between Wanqi and his fiancee are kept at minimum.

There is some antis that slammed the drama for bringing in love triangle into the plot which the writer did not do at all.
I know they feel they need to bring the drama down since this marks RJL's new height since Silent Tides aired at CCTV during prime time slot which is a slot most actors aimed for in their career. But saying something that didn't happen in the drama is what made this whole thing laughable. There is not even one scene that imply love triangle as it's only patriotic mission in all of their scenes together which is less than 5 minutes time in each episode. 😅
It also reflect their shallow mentality since while the drama focus on the economy part of Macau, they bring in insubstantial part of the story since Yinwan is the FL and not Hexian's wife; Qiwen.
What an amazing review. By looking at you score, I thought it will be full of complaints but your review actually made me think that this drama actually deserved 8.5 stars. It's amazing how you decipher some of the schemes in the drama since its true you can only see some of the results after 10 to 20 episodes.

There is NO love triangle in the drama at all. Passing 'guilt' as 'love' is a new reach that I feel embarrassed for them. At least watch the drama if you want to criticise it. 😅
Only between Hexian and his wife Qiwen. They are a very adorable couple who supported each other through thick and thin. But romance is only a little since the focus is the plot. The writing is super amazing though.
RJL looks great with this styling. They need to keep the beautiful wavy hair till the end of the drama. Its rare for a ML to have this type of hair in XianXia dramas.

I really feel sad for Yaoyao. Im so glad its a happy end for her and Xixuan. They really went through a lot.
Now writing this made me want to rewatch the drama again. 😻
