i gave the ending some thought because i was a little conflicted about it. the revenge is far-fetched but i can still get behind the fact that the grieving parents wanted justice for their child and couldn't judge the preparators with rationality. in their eyes every single one of them was at fault and contributed to their daughter's death but if you want to see the children in pain, dying over and over in the stimulated game then why bring them pain without them knowing what are they in pain for? why were their memories manipulated and why the majority of them didn't know why they were in the game? if they won't know, they won't regret it, they won't take accountability, they won't feel remorse for their actions?
I want Mina to be voted out too. How can someone be that dumb and annoying? Poorly written character.
I think the way she behaved is pretty understandable. She has always been the subordinate one following the main person in the group to be part of the clique. And now that SoMi is gone, to save herself she's trying to do everything to please people because that's what she has done and known for long.
yea.. but like again they only cared about doctor abilities and focused on it when they wanted the president back. and doctor even died after.. almost in vain when a doctor's role is so important in the game.
can't really judge it until we reach the end but if the junwon thing is true which is likely to be.. it'll be too obvious and predictable. personally i wouldn't be moved. also about the rules they don't really tell u rules they just do something and let us interpret and speculate the rule lol
for several reasons. all of these are my issues with the show. firstly, the lack of consistency with rules. the rules of the game seem arbitrary to the point that they are being used very conveniently to eventually derive conclusions. it was never specified how frequently, when and how police and doctor can use their abilities. we don't even know how many people are mafias. you could say it makes it interactive because it leaves the audience guessing but i see it as something being exploited for the sake of plot twists and shock values. it just feels convenient to me, not clever. secondly, the pacing of the show. it started at an understandable pace but then things happened way too abruptly to be processed or perceived or drawn meaning from. thirdly, i feel like the characters are not written well enough. when i read the plot, i was told the protagonist is reasonable and possesses good observational skills, she has eventually come along but in the beginning, it was frustrating that she never asserted herself (which still remains true partially) or actually concluded something from her observations. her observations had not helped because she is not a dominant person and she very often does very irrational and not properly thought out things which land her in problems. and way too much time was spent on the ghost thing than necessary. the class president, though, i think is well written. he does have a sense of justice but he like the protagonist is not assertive enough. he does things for the best but never disapproves of things he should be disapproving. past trauma from death and witnessing a series of death and guilt does explain why he is behaving that way though. the same goes for the protagonist but this is more of a writing issue i think. funnily, kyungjun is one of the best-written characters who manages to pull the plot as well as his character remains what was promised. bully who is not loyal to anyone, selfish, manipulative, does everything by force and intimidation but still has a little depth (him crying because he tortured wooram / almost died and had to resort to extreme measures). somi, again, i think her character is consistent throughout she does what you expect from the character, unlike the two protagonists. jungwon is barely developed, she is kinda just there to be the voice of reason and calmness. also, too many characters who were semi-developed and interesting were killed off but some of the characters who do not have any distinct characteristics are still kept. the side characters also barely have their own opinions unless it is dictated to them, all of them are too compliant and gullible. which is again not the characters who are at fault but the writing. fourthly, they only explore group dynamics on a surface level and i would even say the dynamics are not used to their full potential. lastly, i hate the host storyline, pretty underwhelming and expected is all.
Also, when did I say, "that I hooked Da Beom and Kyeong Jun together or even romanticized their scenes"? Can you…
I agree with the first statement. There are indeed people who never feel remorse and view their actions as justified. Even in that way, I feel like trying to understand fictional evil characters is way less harmful than doing so with actual real people for a common person who haven't studied psychological pathology. This way one is less likely to disadvantage and invalidate, to some degree, actual victims. With the second thing, I just want to put it in perspective that abusers are often family, friends, and spouses. These people have loved you and used this love against you, victims often have complex relationships with their abusers because there is more to the equation than just hatred and anger. Victims often share an intimate relationship with their abusers which is hard to let go of and is also used as a means to manipulate them. When abusers are portrayed and viewed as purely evil, it becomes hard for victims to recognize the abusers in their lives because it doesn't conform to a preconception of how abusers are - cruel, evil, capable of no good, harmful, up to no good when abusers might lead a normal, well-respected life outside the relationship with the victim, they might possess good qualities as well, and they might even do good things for you. None of which makes them less of an abuser. I am really glad that you came from a place of understanding, hope we can continue that.

in context with the statement that "trying to understand an evil person is not a good mentality since you are blaming their circumstances." It is really not. Psychological pathology aims to understand and diagnose people who end up harming others among other things. It is not to delegate/justify their actions but to understand what led to them. Understanding anything is important that is why we study history. Of course, abusers and bullies are terrible people but portraying them solely as monsters who are capable of no good is also in itself harmful because very often abusers and bullies are not simply monsters but also people capable of love and kindness (and lack thereof). in context to this show, regardless of his horrible actions, people have discussed kyungjun's tactics and mannerisms as well. also saying that "finding reasons for bullying" via the fic implies that liking somebody is a reason worth bullying someone when there is never and there will be never a justified reason for bullying. so even if you put a circumstance to it, it makes no difference because, at the end of the day, it is a way to abuse the socially or hierarchically weaker. if someone else decided to explore his (very much fictional) character or da beom's struggle through a different lens and perspective (via fiction) it is their creative approach, if you don't like to consume things like that you can just avoid it. also, I am not trying to be a judge of your character but the way you sound (the tone of your texts) is very often patronizing, i believe you can state your opinions without sounding hostile. understanding will only come if you try conversing with an open heart.
somi is so smart and manipulative too.. she knows how to not be centre of attention + people trust her word and generally respect her as a vice president.. but i am pretty surprised that nobody has questioned her scapegoating people. when kyungjun does that it's pretty understandable because he's an asshole who doesn't care about anyone but somi is quite a respectable person in the class so
well.. he had it coming. the only reason he wasn't killed by mafias was probably because he was behind that shutter.. once the keys were gone there is no way for him to survive even if they didn't kill him, civilians would have voted him off now that he's a known murderer. he was pretty smart, manipulative in all the selfish ways but also impulsive. he kinda kept plot going. because he is a bully he know he'd never be trusted over someone else's opinion so he practically did everything to survive; threateningly with force or coaxing people to not be against him or making someone the scapegoat.
how do y'all think Kyung Jun is a police? I'm confused.
i mean he's pretty suspicious especially when he when like you people tell me all suspects and i will choose for you because my "hunch".. obviously he can't come out as police because he'll be a target then so that's how probably he was trying to get information out of people to decide whose identity to figure out. and he was so sure about wooram.
