The reason I think people are afraid of him is because he had the ability to lock Jang Uk's energy/powers from birth. People did not want to go against him and duel against one of the powerful mages, to then potentially die or maybe even have their energy locked/taken away.
Can't believe I only watched this 4 weeks ago. Honestly one of the best dramas I've seen after tons of series! So well-written, great choice of cast and OST is spot on. A lovely balance of action/comedy/romance/fantasy. I've already rewatched (mainly fav scenes) like 4 times now, I can't move on. I'm currently trying to find something new to watch and fill the gap before Squid Game S2, but it is so difficult after this masterpiece!
