i agree when you said "if you’re a huge fan of wuxia/martial arts this would be your cup of tea" because the…
Love the older versions better than the newer ones (I disliked the Ariel Lin version so much, and could never understand why so many like that), so I was hesitant to watch it when it showed up on my YouTube recommendations. But after reading your comment, I've decided to give it a shot.

Thank you so much for "selling" (and explaining) this drama to those who don't understand it. Jin Yong novels were my childhood, so they have a special place in my heart, and it hurts to hear people writing this drama off simply because of the characters (or simply because of Guo Jing being dumb).

I thought so too! It angered me so much how they were always doing stuff as if playing games. If it was gaming…
Exactly! I totally understand that they want to promote cyber security through a television drama, and thus changed it to CTFs, but they could have at least read up on CTFs before filming. It isn't that difficult to do so. >.<

And to think think they talked about reaction speeds in a few episodes too (with Tong Nian even creating a programme for them to practice their reaction speed ). It as though they need a high APM for CTFs.

Btw, if you haven't, you should add You're Beautiful When You Smile to your list of dramas! It should be out by this year, hopefully. (:

I love Go Go Squid! but the misrepresentation of the "game" irks me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I thought I should clear this up for anyone who's still confused (because the drama does a really bad job of explaining it) -

They're a team competing in Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions (i.e. cyber security competitions) where they have to defend their system and find "flags" to gain points, or attack the other team's system and prevent the other team from finding the "flags" in their system. There may be variations though (e.g. both teams attack a central system to find "flags" and the fastest team / team with the most points wins ).

Also, there's much more to just coding / programming when in a CTF competition. You may be waiting for a command to finish running, analysing a file's metadata, doing some maths...

I really wished they'd just stick to the novel and kept it to e-sports. ><

I think all of these scenes were included?
I'm pretty sure there's only one version of this drama (the one aired by MangoTV; the only privilege paid members have is to watch it before it "officially" airs). I'm not 100% sure, but I think the uncut scenes are from trailers and previews? They're basically just floating around Weibo and Douyin so people know they exist but don't remember where they found them anymore.

Also, like @meixue mentioned above, #4 is from the epilogue. Search for the 番外 and you'll find it. MangoTV has also uploaded it onto YouTube.

He leaves her twice in the novel, but I'm not sure if the drama will follow the novel. It hasn't been following the novel much, other than the characters and the characters' backgrounds (and perhaps some random scenes? I don't remember much of the novel; I just vaguely remember the main plot).

I’m so confused why did they break up why did he do???
According to the novel, the first time he left her was because of his grandparent (might have remembered this wrong) and the second time he left her was because of his sick mother.

It seems that you have actually watched more C-dramas than I do, so I might not be the best person to ask for recommendations. Haha. But you can check out Youth (2018), the China adaptation of Korean's Age of Youth - it's more slice-of-life than romance, but the little romance they have is still cute, and makes you want more.

I see that you've watched some Taiwanese dramas too. If you liked them, you definitely have to try Autumn's Concerto (it's a melodrama, but it was THAT popular drama that everyone had to watch back then, and plot-wise I felt that it was really great).

If you're looking for a more mature romance, you can try Before We Get Married (if you're put off by the synopsis, trust me, it's actually more tame than it sounds, and the leads' chemistry is off the charts.

If you're looking for something sweet / cute, try Bromance (girl disguised as a boy, totally squeal-worthy), and Mysterious Incredible Terminator (mystery / thriller drama set in high school, the romance is super cute - there used to be subs for this on YT but I'm not sure if it's still around though ><). Hi My Sweetheart is legendary among old Taiwanese drama watchers too, but I never really got into it.

If none of those above are of your interest, or you simply have too much time on your hands because of the current situation, you can try anything Jasper Liu. Most of his dramas aren't really memorable, but if you're looking for light, fun dramas, he definitely has plenty of them. (And I really do love him as an actor, so that's another plus. Lols.)

If you don't mind reading novels, you can try Mo Bao Fei Bao's novels (author of Go, Go Squid!) and Gu Man's novels (author of Love O2O). You could even read the novels that the dramas are based on, because there were a few changes in the dramas, especially for Go, Go Squid. The translators for these two authors' novels are really good too. You can check them out on NovelUpdates.

I hope you'll find something you like! ^.^

It's rather popular in China (the epilogue had quite a bit of a hype on Weibo), so perhaps they'll start subbing it when they have all the videos up on Youtube (the "airing" date on Youtube is different from China's - it's still being "aired" every weekend I think). But I really am not sure. Sorry I can't be of help!

Anyone knows when the subs will be out?
MangoTV didn't reveal any information about the release of subs, but I stumbled across someone translating the novel on NovelUpdates, if you're interested: https://www.novelupdates.com/series/beautiful-time-with-you/

The translator also translated a short clip from the drama on his/her blog, and might do more in the future (the translator did say he/she is a huge fan of the drama)?

Title Beautiful Time with You Spoiler
can you please spoil the ending? i really want to know the end only then i can watch this drama
It's a happy ending. Though who are disappointed (like I am) is because they ended right after they got together (right after their high school graduation), leaving more to be desired. However, there is a (very) short epilogue about their university days, so at least we have some sweet moments of them dating.

Thanks for the thorough answer! (: I think I might just re-read the novel again because of how disappointed I am with the direction the drama is going. Watched last night's episode, and I'm still mad at how they wrote Yu Yan's character - it makes me dislike him, when I actually like Yu Yan a lot in the novel.

And yes - I think the disappointment for the drama is also because of the high expectations. I love the lead actor and actress, and when they released the OST on Weibo, the singers are famous too! You'd think with the high production, they'd have a better storyline but so far the story has been a mess.

Title Skate Into Love Spoiler
in the novel there isnt a second female lead that goes after Li Yubing. There isnt anyone that tried to be with…
Wow, you remember a lot of things from the novel! I read the novel quite a while back so I can't remember all the side characters except for Tang Xue's two best friends. Just wondering, is the journalism guy in the drama (Tang Xue's crush) also in the novel, or did they create a new character just for the sake of more drama?

Also, I'm a huge fan of the novel, so this drama has been a disappointment so far. The best parts of the novel are the hilarious moments (like you stated), especially between the leads and their parents, but they're all not present in the drama. ):

But thanks for answering all the questions about the novel around here! ^.^

In the novel, they don't break up after getting together (it's basically just fluff and sports-centric once they're finally together). However, the theme song has been released, and there's a scene where they seem to be fighting...? The drama doesn't seem to be following the novel when it comes to the Tang Xue x Li Yu Bing x Yu Yan love line, so I won't be surprised if they make them breakup for a bit just to have more drama.

I actually haven't started watching this drama yesterday (I was reading comments to see if this drama is worth watching), and just started it today. I think the cringe-level for this drama is way worse than a lot of other Taiwanese idol dramas, and I myself dropped it at episode 4, so I can totally understand you not enjoying this drama due to the cheesiness and cuteness since this drama did kind of go overboard with it.

I didn't think that the dialogues were out of place though, so perhaps it may be due to the cultural differences, or it being lost in translation. I would be more than happy to help you explain / translate if ever you come across a particular scene that you thought the dialogue was stilted or unrealistic!

If it's not obvious yet, Taiwanese idol dramas hold a special place in my heart even with their weird comedic sense and unrealistic plots, so if you ever need recommendations, do let me know! (:

I'm really glad I could help! Have a great day! ^.^

Title Hello Again!
I'm at episode 4 and up till now I'm finding the show moderately enjoyable. The two leads are really good and…
I'm not from Taiwan, but I grow up in a SEA country where Mandarin is the second most spoken language. I've been watching Taiwanese dramas since young, so I thought I could help you clear up some of the issues you're having with them.

Taiwanese idol dramas are made to be cheesy and cute. Some people might find it too cringey, especially if they're past the age for it, but since I grew up with it, I'm used to it, and still enjoy them from time to time. Even more "serious" idol dramas, such as Before We Get Married, have random comedic and cheesy moments thrown in. I guess it's just a trait for Taiwanese idol dramas, and this trait probably influenced the editing of the drama. So if you're having second hand embarrassment due to a few scenes in a Taiwanese idol drama, it's probably doing its job. Lols.

Regarding the dialogue, other than for those cheesy moments I've previously mentioned, I've never found them to be stilted or unrealistic. If anything, it's because of the unrealistic/cringey plot/writing that causes the dialogue to be unrealistic. If you want to know more, perhaps you can give me specific examples, and I'll give you my two cents on them?

Title Go Go Squid! Spoiler

OMG, finally someone said this. I really disliked how this drama portrayed the "gaming". I major in Computer Science, and it frustrates me that they made it seem like a CTF competition is equivalent to a LoL competition, when in actuality, you have to sit and analyse before you start spamming the keys (and when you do hit the keys, it's not just WASD like in the drama).

However, in the book, KK is an esports team, not a CTF team, so it makes perfect sense that Gun knows nothing outside of gaming (i.e. making a Weibo, blocking Tong Nian on Wechat, etc.). It's also the reason why Tong Nian knows nothing about Gun's esports world, and why she's always gaming with Gun and the rest of the team. I'm not sure why the drama changed it, and made it looked like CTF = esports. ><

Trust me when I say this is one of the poorly made Wuxia drama. If you were to watch other high-budget Wuxia dramas, it'd probably change your mind. Legend of the Condor Heroes would be one of them.
