Nice to chat with you, as well! I can't say that I even found Aey to be much. He came off, to be, as a bitter manchild who kept scheming and lashing out yet he was mystified when the other characters got fed up with him and he just kept crying 'woe is me' ad nauseum. Most of the characters were caricatures, in effect. Gene gives that nod of acknowledgement to the author and he and Sib effectively disappear back into the author's imagination. It was a terrible ending to a not very good series. I'm glad I didn't watch it all and wasn't invested because that finale must feel like a slap in the face to those who enjoyed it, up to this point.

So very true. After watching the prior episode, I thought I'd give the finale a go. It was largely nonsensical drivel. Their breakup is undone with nary a fuss and then we launch off into inane silliness. This series had the potential to be something really interesting but their light and fluffy approach squandered those opportunities.It fell flat even when it was trying to be serious, on most occasions.

I watched it as it aired the first time, week-by-week, and am also old enough to have lived when there was no other way to watch a series other than in it's weekly installments. I think that binge watching can take away from a show's impact. Even when I'm watching older shows that I haven't seen, I usually watch a few different ones at a time and alternate between them.
