for anyone else who might be struggling but in an earnest way and not in an "I have the capacity for critical analysis of a two year old" way, I am not exonerating the CCP for their failure to protect vulnerable women, I'm saying that the instinct we have to reduce and end any and all analysis by saying "CCP is evil incarnate" is a propaganda effort perpetuated by the American Empire. This drama absolutely hooked me, I need more FLs like Hua Qian, and I'll literally follow Zhou Ye into battle if she keeps picking these roles. That being said, the romance was criminally underdeveloped despite having incredible potential, and the drama overall let me down pretty severely towards the end. Especially because of what it COULD have been. Alas, c-dramas...

I cannot put into words how good this lakorn is, and how it breaks all the toxic-lakorn stereotypes. No like I actually can't put it all into words but - the casting? PERFECTION. James does the quiet, kind, sad boy with the sad smile and incredibly expressive eyes SO WELL. And toey made me fall in love with her. Among my fav FLs ever for sure, for so many reasons. Actor for Grace did this role so much justice, and I adore him (even though he was batshit crazy in the first lakorn I've ever watched him in LOL)

this is prob among my fav fictional couples ever- just so healthy, communicative, supportive. they know each other thoroughly, understand each other like no one else, COMPLETE each other. he didn't stand a chance against her. their dynamic, chemistry, just everything - god, this is ROMANCE.

what an incredible, wholesome host of characters. even the ones I hated, ones I thought would be irredeemable, ultimately won me over to some extent. I actually wish we got more of Mata/control freak dad more because that was so damn fun. she's just such a good character AHHH I'll miss her and her family and all the people she converted into loving her LOL It's crazy because usually I skip any scenes without the leads in it and usually find secondary plot lines boring but NOT the case here since I love sooo many different dynamics and relationships. Genuinely wish the show extended 3-4 eps just to give more justice to (what would have been) my fav secondary romance, but honestly I can't complain too much because this lakorn delivered more than I could have hoped for. (but I will still complain a little bc......I loved them and wanted more so bad. was SHOCKED they were endgame, but SOOOO HAPPYYYYY)

I loved the LGBTQ+ representation in it - in lakrons, it's usually a caricature / butt of the joke representation, but in this one it showed how important community is to LGBTQ+ peoples, how everyone has each others back, how family is created, and how oppressed/ostracized people respond in kindness to a world that is so hostile. It was really unexpected to see in an asian drama, especially how NORMAL it was portrayed, and I absolutely loved it.

This is one of those lakorns - honestly, one of those shows in general - that you come across every blue moon and it takes a special place in your heart. you know what I mean, we watch a bunch of shows with varying degrees of fondness, but every so often you come across one that completely takes over your heart, that you watch every episode with anticipation, that you can't just help but think "Man this is SO good." It def joined my Top 3 Lakorns Of All Time list and idk what to do to tide me over now T___T

LMFAO man the ML and FL are actually so funny and I rly do like their banter but I just always feel the shadow of SFL and the previous meanness of ML. him being in love with her is so funny and 15 mins in this ep has been fun but I hate knowing he gets back with SFL?? like how good would it have been if they just ended in that last ep, im literally hoping everyone in the comments watched a diff drama but the version im watching follows my specific desires LMAO

Agh. I dont even blame her for being into him more and more. Like, he's handsome as hell, persistently complimentary with that ice cold face of his, and he shows moments of such kindness and consideration (like easily accepting that seat for her dad) especially when contrasted with his usual aloofness or meanness. Especially as someone who's suffered such deep loneliness, to have someone suddenly be next to you and comfort you and accompany you in moments you need it most, it's hard to resist. BUT I HATE THIS FOR HERRRRR

despite rowoon almost hoodwinking me, I truly am not into indecisive MLs. Also I've loved his mom from the getgo, she seems like such a genuine person. honestly I wish FL would just listen to ML - dont turn around when he calls your name, dont run to him when he rings your phone, dont be concerned about him. He begs her not to appear in front of him after telling her shes incomparable to her bully, then the next day he tells her to go somewhere with him, provides no explanation, and despite looking annoyed....she agrees. I really like this scene where they're naturally interacting while drinking beer in front of the rain

its just so jarring....like I cant help but focus on this element of cheating. SFL is shady as hell and ugly at heart, and doing this deliberately, but still seeing her sit with FL and then call ML over and seeing how awkward ML looked was just ick as hell. also cant help but notice that from like ep 3 (or whenever spell happened) to now, the "romance" between leads has just been so inorganic. Or at least, its felt inorganic from his end. im also disappointed in the FL for helping to whitewash SFL's past actions. Just because she looked tearful after hearing about ur dad, ur gonna let her call u her bestie from HS? U know how shady she is too.

Something that's hard for me to reconcile, and that I've experienced with a lot of FLs, is that the scriptwriters make them all have significant moments of OOC to progress the plot OR WORSE they dont develop the FL and her convictions enough for it to even be OOC. For ex, the way she constantly goes with his whims despite not having any reason in character. The way she feels gross that she feels like an adulterer, but doesn't distance herself from him. The fact that he's been genuinely mean AND annoying, but she never holds him accountable for it as if it never happened. Its frustrating! This obviously wouldn't make for a good drama but tbh as of rn, this moment, as FL and SML eat lunch together, I wish she'd just wash her hands of ML and be with this guy instead.

Like when ML says, "I'm jealous, I miss you" none of it hits because if how strongly they setup the premise of him being under a spell and also how much his personality changed after it and also how early it happened and how long its gone on for

I really cant connect to the romance which sucks bc I WANT to. He's saying "is it just the spell? no, its love" but like - where the hell was the lead up to that? From ep 4 to now his behaviour has continuously been over-the-top infatuation mixed with clear unwillingness and meanness, and it hasn't changed at all but suddenly he's claiming it's not the spell? Where was the development? Nonexistent. There were not nearly enough scenes between the leads to actually establish this, and no, her telling him about her dad isn'e enough on this front. And how is it love when you for whatever cowardly reason cant leave your girlfriend/fiance

Ik I spent all these words shitting on everything esp ML but there are moments where im like damn......cute....and the fact that im still watching I guess. But then there are scenes that make me realize how ML completely ignores/avoids mentions of his GF or the fact that what he's doing is bad and I'm back lol

Also Ik I've been critical of the FL too but like I LIKE her, and I just have a problem with scriptwriters and familiar precedents. Imo it makes sense that she's softened towards him, it'll even make sense as she falls for him. But I hate it. (Though I DO actually appreciate that as of ep 6, she at least seems like she doesnt wanna be linked to him, and at the very least, is self aware about how he treats her). I read some spoilers indicating that the spells aren't legit, and my guess is that they'll do this null spell but it "wont work" but tbh I wish it WOULD work as in he doesn't act as clearly compelled by an uncontrollable force. That and him actually ending things w his GF would allow for the romance between the leads to truly start for me.

Ok way earlier I said that the change in ML after the spell was so drastic and abrupt that it didnt even seem like him and felt like no development. but weirdly now I TRULY see the development from all the way back then to the present ep and its good! I like it! I also like that he is suffering LFMAO like idt she likes him less but he def likes her more than anyone hes ever liked before or thought himself capable of, and he acts it
