I would have rated this a high 9 or a low 10 just for the budding romance and hardships throughout this great drama, but for one thing, and it brought it down to a low 8, and that was the cross dressers, that totally destroyed and left a real bitter taste in my mouth. There was really absolutely no point for adding that to the drama, at least in my most humble opinion. Other than that, it really did make for a real masterpiece of a drama, no dumb love triangles, just pure straight budding romance. I have no idea why they had Jinnai Takanori as an unknown role when I started this drama, but am glad they changed that at my request as he played a huge supporting role throughout the whole drama. It was very well acted out by all the actors/actresses involved. I really loved the ending theme song, very beautiful song.
Yet another silly but cute high school romantic comedy. I felt they went a little overboard with Ito Ono san's acting, but that's okay. I'm glad she did the right thing concerning the letter, that really made the movie for me. If she had gone the other way, it would have been a total flop of a movie for me. Most definitely a high 8 for sure.
So did not like the movie or the ending, she ended up with the wrong guy in my opinion.
I don't read much, but yes, I wish she had ended up with George. I really don't like Mukai Osamu as an actor, I really find him pushy and arrogant, only drama/movie I found he was okay in was Bambino.
Like the reviews, I didn't like this movie too much. The synopsis said their love was strong, her love most definitely wasn't strong at all, his love was much stronger than hers. One, she should have gone back home when she couldn't find work in Tokyo, especially knowing he was back home waiting for her, and secondly, when he wanted to move to Tokyo, she should have readily answered, "Yes, come." It's no wonder the story went the way it did. She's is just plain lucky for the so called miracle. Men will always be the stronger, even statistics prove that. This movie was most definitely only low and weak 5 in my books.
It was a good story but for Rin's mother, Kanako san, you don't abandon your child then try to get him/her back. Children aren't objects where you just throw them away when you don't want them anymore. In my eyes, you abandon your child, you never get them back again, that's the way society should treat these despicable, no good for nothing parents. She should have never ever gotten Rin back. I would have rated this drama so much better had they not given Rin back to her mother. Despicable.
Like GreenPaintedRose said, where was the romance? Don't add romance to a drama under Genres when there isn't any. Even the synopsis is wrong, where does it show that she fell in love with him at the beginning?
I really liked this drama but for 3 women, Ren kun's mother Hojo san(Tomosaka Rie), Daiki kun's mother Hanawa san(Katase Nana), and Yuuki kun's mother Keiko san(Konno Mahiru). I have never liked Tomosaka Rie as she has always come across as arrogant and thinks she's over everyone else, I don't like people like that, very discriminative, and she sure played that part in this drama. Likewise with Katase Nana, not sure what she's like as an actress, but I sure didn't like her in this drama, very much the same as Tomosaka Rie, very discriminative. Yuuki's mother, I felt really didn't deserve to even have a child to abandon him the way she did just to get remarried, what kind of mother does that to her own child, and so sad to say, it happens all the time in real life. I really abhorred the ending, Yuuki needed to be where he was in my books, just like Ayu san(Ueto Aya) said, children aren't animals or objects where you just throw them away when you don't want them anymore, therefore, in my books, she should never have even had a chance to get Yuuki back. You don't abandon your child for ANY reason. There I am only giving this drama, as much as I really liked it, a low 7. The rest of the drama was really great.
I really liked this drama although I really didn't like Inagaki Goro, any drama/movie I've seen him in he's always conniving, and I don't like that, it really gets under my skin. I have to say I didn't like the ending either. I have to agree with RainbowPower as to the ending, she was the one that was fully supportive of him, his girlfriend was more supportive of him being in music. For that reason alone I felt he should have been with Chie. For those two reasons, I'd only give this drama an 8. Great cast of actors, and the music score was pretty good too. I'd rewatch this one again.
How can people say it wasn't perfect?! It was the best thing that I have ever seen >__< I cried in each…
It really shows just how fragile our lives really are. She touched so many people, and that's what she really wanted, to help others, and she did that through her diaries. I'm still crying...
I'm avoid from this drama. i don't want to crying too hard or it will make me headache.
The only thing I could add to Samaa's comment is, by watching this drama GokaiGold, you might be able to better understand what this disease does to someone, and it gives you more understanding and compassion, more sensitivity and empathy for the person(s) going through such a cruel and terrible disease.
I finished this but it was really tough. Can't even imagine what the real Aya has been through. I still feel depressed.
I don't feel depressed, I feel real empathy and sympathy both for not just Aya, but her family and those that were closely involved with her. My heart breaks for all of them.
I would like to watch it, but I just can't take heartbreaking stories =(
It was a most definite heartbreaking story for sure, I only wish that Haruto, when reading the diary, would have asked her to marry him, even though she was stuck in bed, I really believe she really wanted that more than anything. My heart still breaks for her.
My bad, I hit enter when typing the review and wasn't quite done with the review, oh well. It is a recommended watch in my most humble opinion, I would watch it again just for the story between Tatsuku and Monami. Again, they could have done without the affair and the jackass of a husband, in my most humble opinion of course.
By her knowing that Gai was in love with her, and her supposedly loving him, and her going out with Ran and sleeping with him, that, in my books, is betrayal. All in all, in my books, it was a most terrible drama...
Some really great actors in this movie, but to be honest, didn't really get the jest of this movie at all, at all. Oh well, maybe someone will enjoy and understand it more than me. :)
