The first episode looked like a 45min long trailer lmao. It was all over the place with short scenes, flashbacks, flashbacks in flashbacks, weird cuts and background music in mostly every scene... Sounds like they had to cut ALOT for this show to be 61 episodes only... But nevertheless, I quite like it so far, just hope it will slow down in the future.
Ok. This trailer looks SICK. Can we talk about the quality of everything? Costumes, set, color, EVERYTHING?? Yes China, gives us some serious darkish BL romance kind of drama. We are waiting for it!!!

The actress (Wu Yue) did very well in portraying Empress Dowager's emotions and fears. But I know that I'm part of a minority who "likes" this character since people mostly hate her because she did ugly things in order to control her son and power. It was this scene, when she was talking to her foster son (Emperor) that made me cry and which gave me compassion for her. I thought while re-watching it that there is something tragic about this woman that I can't explain even now.
