It's a slow-paced revenge story. Zhang Hai has to be careful and patient, and the plot reflects that. There won't be action in every episode, although I found the pacing quite good. But I'm curious, will you continue watching?

I've just finished the first episode and I noticed they reused the bgm from Qin Dynasty: Epic as well as Royal Nirvana. Also, while watching ADOS, I noticed they reused the bgm from a popular drama (I believe it was Ruyi's royal love in the palace, but I don't remember exactly). It seems to be quite commun... maybe to save money? Or because they didn't find a proper composer to make the bgm for their drama? I don't really know, but it's a bit disturbing when it happens because I keep thinking of the original drama the music is from while watching the scene.
Considering dropping this, the first episode was very meh and I don't think the writer knows how to write believable…
I'm glad I'm not alone to have this feeling. I didn't even finish the first episode. Dialogues and certain scenes had no logical sense or were simply unbelievable. Am I surprised ? No. As @Architectofnonsence said, China had a problem with producing good and believable medical dramas, or more likely anything related to a profession in particular. They just don't care about reality, they just want to portray a best-selling romance and make money.

it's probably a very unpopular opinion, but I think that people are getting tired of the same stories being adapted over and over again and they are not hesitating to express their dissatisfaction, which may change the situation for future Xianxia dramas. Producers and scriptwriters will try more to get out of their comfort zone and offer new and exciting stories without always using the same tropes again and again. But the real problem with this phenomenon is that this drama is getting a lot of hate when, as you said, it is not copying the big titles of Xianxia genre of the moment. This drama really popped up at the wrong time, because I really think that all those Xianxia tropes are coming to an end quite soon. It's a bit like the Mary sue problem, everyone is just SO tired of it now.

I’m glad to know I’m not alone. I prepared myself to cry before watching the ep, but then when the scene came and that I was ready to choke with tears, nothing happened. Literally nothing. I was staring at my screen like I would watch a random and non touching scene. The acting didn’t convince my heart. I don’t know, it just felt like something was missing for it to be grandiose and heartbreaking. Such a miss for me.
just finished episode 12. This drama looks amazing, I’m wowed already. I’m more of a Chinese historical drama type of girl, I don’t really like fantasy dramas because, to me, they always feel off and hard to feel connected to. I tried many fantasy dramas, but never was hooked by them. But this one! The visuals are so magnificent, the cgi is really really well done (it’s not always the case) and the story is very appealing. For once that I like a fantasy drama, I’m surprised that netizens are cancelling it… whyyyyyy?

it is what his character is meant to be, but I still think it’s off. His baby face hardly makes it believable to me. I only saw him in The legend and I found him pretty good in there, so Idk why I’m not convinced in this new drama :(

I agree, I'm not convinced by the ML's acting either, even though it's probably part of his character's personality. But I just finished episode 8 and I admit that I really like his relationship with FL and I'm eager to see how it will blossom. This drama looks very promising!

but not everyone react like you and drop a show just because the first episodes are boring. Some people like to watch 10 or more episodes before really considering dropping since Chinese dramas usually start slow but can turn out to be very interesting as the story progresses. This doesn't mean they don't have the right to express their first feeling of the show, even if it is negative...
It's unbelievable how some people take the liberty of telling others to go watch something else just because they don't have the same opinion as them. If one finds the first episode boring or if one doesn't like the cast too much, one has the right to express it and to continue watching this drama nevertheless. Let people have their own opinion without cancelling it, geez.

I expected a better acting from her as I found her amazing in the movie Better Days, but maybe it will improve as she mature in the drama so I'll keep watching. And I'm with you too about the lacking chemistry, and I'm not very found of ML either, unfortunately.
