I have to agree with Kai here. So far, nothing points to her being those 2 things. Have you not done something that you regretted and desperately wished you could take back? Have you never wronged anyone in your life? In life, there are circumstances that are extremely hard to overcome. Faced with difficult choices, people are often selfish. It looks like she made the selfish choice, which she seems to regret or is maybe trying to make amends. Parental relationships are often a lot more complicated than romantic or platonic ones. From everything we know so far, she is actually quite brave. It's not easy to own your mistakes. It is even harder to try to make it up to the person you wronged, especially if it's your family and especially if it's your child. She seems like she is trying. She is actually giving ML quite a bit of grace and is very patient with him, likely because she feels really guilty and still wants to have a relationship with him. I could understand MLs coldness toward her too. Forgiveness has nothing to do with time that has passed or how much the other person tries to make it right.
Ahhh, seeing people's reactions in the comments really shows who took their dating and human relationship standards from TV/Movies/Books and who has dated or just dealt with normal humans before. No one here is toxic. Both ML and FL are deeply insecure people in their own way and for different reasons, and that's totally okay. We are all insecure or flawed in some way; nobody is a saint. That doesn't call for a toxic label. No one here is abusive or manipulative. You guys throw those words out too lightly. I understand that most people come on here and watch shows that present you with perfect, fantastical humans without flaws fighting/dealing with super duper evil villains living in a fantasy world that just happens to look like ours, but this is a slice-of-life drama, so don't hold the characters in it to the same standards.
And if we are being totally honest, you can't even call these characters realistic, as they are all actually overly positive. They just pale in comparison to the conventional, oversimplified perfect MLs and FLs people are used to at this point. Seeing the reactions here, I'm genuinely curious what these same people would call the FL from One Spring Night lol.
Another great episode today (ep 4). Already looking forward to next week. I'm really liking it so far. FL and ML are actually pretty interesting for once. The actors are doing a great job portraying vulnerability, insecurity and stubbornness in both of them.
Great drama so far. I'm really enjoying it. Try not to judge people too harshly. These are supposed to be young adults still figuring out where they belong and who they are. I actually find everyone pretty likable (ofc except for that weirdo TA from episode 1). Everyone is strange/weird and adorable in their own way.
Okay, the drama is a bit ragebaity, but to be honest, it's the only one I am looking forward to week to week. I both love and despise everybody in it (SFL excluded). It's genuinely unpredictable, the best/worst way possible. All the actors are pulling their weight. Watching a K-drama where you are not sure what the ending is going to be is actually fun. Also, it's great seeing people have mixed feelings/opinioins and discussions about it. There is actually some discourse happening for once; not everything is cut and dry. I actually find it fun reading some of the comments because of how differently everyone interprets all the characters and the things they do. Overall, I think this is a must-watch so far; I just hope they land on an interesting finale. Can't wait to read people arguing about it lol.
I am sorry but this drama is complete buns. I really don’t get the high ratings. I won’t lie, I think all the actors did a phenomenal job. Pio and his mother were especially convincing. The casting choices were super on point as well. I thought the first few episodes were building up an awesome rivalry/friendship full of scheming , jealousy, misunderstandings and hatred and just something a bit more multidimensional. Even the name was hinting at something more interesting. Maybe I was expecting a different show? Somewhere after the second half maybe even earlier its was just cliche after cliche. There is even a fake amnesia revenge plot in here… Everything was super predictable. I won’t even talk about the last 2 episodes. I found the finale ridiculous. Revenge was reduced to nothing. No real payoff anywhere to be found. Everyone is happy and all is forgiven. I think I’m mostly upset about missed potential given the acting talent on display here. Idk maybe I’m wrong.
I think It’s called “ordinary” because he won an amount that neither too big to completely change his life yet still substantial enough to change his perspective. 1.3b is probably just enough to buy a 1 bedroom apartment in Seoul. It is definitely not large enough for him to quit his job, live lavishly and never work again, but it is enough to provide him a safety net and give him a piece of mind. It’s just now he can finally do things that he never dared to do. It’s showing us that actually he was capable of being like this the whole time it’s just now he isn’t being as cautious. In fact his life has improved as a result of his actions, however he really hasn’t done anything he couldn’t have done before. I think the lesson here is although being comfortable and cautious is definitely a way to survive but maybe you can try being brave even about small things and perhaps your life will also improve. It’s a drama after all so the message is nice and all but obviously doesn’t apply to us all. I think some of us who are gritting their teeth day to day and can’t afford to “get angry” this drama is almost insulting or maybe discouraging in someway. Like our sacrifices are cowardly and we are putting up with unfair treatment for no reason and that we could be doing better if we were just a little bit braver. Idk I have really mixed feelings about this show or maybe I'm just sensitive about this topic. I think in many people’s past experiences whether in relationships or in the workplace being braver/reckless and more honest or even just a nicer person has rarely yielded positive results. It’s just the reality of the world we live in unfortunately. Don’t get me wrong I love the show so far and the plot has been pretty fun, just some stuff/themes made me think about things I don’t like to think about when I watch kdramas for entertainment.
Am I the only one who is getting heavy "You Are My Fateful Love" vibes. Is the production team the same or something? Or are they using the same filter? Leading man aside its really similar somehow, I just cant place it.
Luke really pissed me off today. The part where he realises that he is just like his dad lowkey hits home. I think a lot of us have this moment of realization when we realize that we are just like our parents whether its bad or good. The people that raise you leave a big impression on you, im glad atleast he saw what he was doing and was able to see the parallel. Is he gonna do anything about it? Im not sure anymore. He is becoming more annoying as time goes by. Flora is not perfect either but atleast some of her behaviours can be excused by her age and her situation at work. As for Luke im starting to run out of excuses for him. Calling Flora "cheap and obedient" really ticked me off. Dude was waaaay over the line.
Saw some people complaining about how explicit the show is. I get it. Its a bit over the top. We are getting like 2 scenes per episode minimum while an average modern drama would have like maybe like 4-5 in the entire run time. I definitely have mixed feeling about it but it surprisingly doesn't feel out of place. I think it fits the vibe they are going for. Its kind of going for like a sexy modern melo noire. I think the direction and cinematography (acting is a given, I wouldn't even watch if acting was bad) are genuinely quite good so ill just trust the production team and follow along with their vision.
Question: honestly my first thought was “wow how’s there such a big advertising company especially with the…
It actually makes sense for the time. Even the fact that she was able to land that role in the first place really speaks for the time this is taking place. Nowadays getting a job at major firm like this is insanely difficult and its way more competitive due to the saturated pool of applicants and young professionals. Those entry roles now hardly exist (nepotism aside). Also there are still many large Ad agencies around even now, even in the age of AI. AI is mostly used for mock ups, brainstorming or on the execution/software side if thats involved. Final designs and Ad campaign planning are still done by humans or require human review since they are tied to large financial commitments by the client.
Ahhh, the classic as old as time. Your girlfriend is mad at you for something you have no idea about and is asking for a break up she doesn't actually want. Luke is like the last character I though I would find relateable. Why do you guys always do this to us??? Even the making up part felt waaay to accurate lol.
Again kudos to Sun Yu for being the best bff ever. Give my girl more screen time please. She deserves some happiness too!
MLs parents bicker just like mine. Even his dad is exactly the same, always trying to give advice noone asked for/needs, then us arguing, then Mom has to mediate. This is just too relatable.
Sorry childhood friend, you had no chance. But she took it in stride and didnt trash the FL or ML or do anything weird (yet). I hope screen writers dont give her a villain ark. She seems like a genuinely nice person.
I am genuinely impressed with Flora's character. When she got the Logo wrong and was upset that Luke didnt give her any preferential treatment, but the at the same time was self aware enough to know that she would actually not want any special treatment because she did make a mistake and the punishment was fair. But at the same time she was probably hoping for something else. Its hard to put into words how delighted I was to see how human and vulnerable the FL was shown without becoming unreasonable/ridiculous in her expectations. And on top of that you slowly get to see her grow professionally and as a person, which is always a delight. I am really impressed with this series so far.
Btw her bestie Sun Yu is genuinely the nicest human being on the planet. I wish I had a friend like her. Anyone probably would.
ML is kinda one dimensional at this point, hopefully he gets some character development.
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think they reconciled too quickly. I needed at least 2 episodes of misery minimum. Feels like they jumped into things too quickly, especially given how disastrous things at the company still were. But to be fair, it's 12 episodes, and we just introduced Ha Gi's ex/maybe first love, so the runtime is quite limited. I think it could work with 14, surprisingly for a romance-centred drama.
Also, I actually liked that the FL reflected on herself about being a sasaeng and that joining the company just to be closer to her bias is lowkey weird.
Writers, why couldn't you BRING BACK THE GHOSTS?!! Its Spooky love after all, Urghh, drama is basically over, and we just got a glimpse of supernatural. I thought this was leaning toward a mystery/supernatural buddy-cop drama with some romance undertones. I was hoping this would be similar to Hotel del Luna but a bit more grounded, but we are once again left with petty family drama and fluffy romance with an inevitable breakup/makeup in the last 2 episodes. They had the ingredients! They had the recipe! And the final dish is... disappointment.
The white truck-sunbenim I don't even want to talk about.... This guy seems to be booking every drama recently.
