Friends

I've watched over 300 dramas and I have to say Zhang Wuji may be the lamest, naive and gullible character I've ever seen. If not definitely top 3. I hate when dramas force their main leads to be dumb just to serve as plot devices to extend the drama. He believes all bad advice and refuses to accept any advice that is contrary to it. Not to say that there wasn't characters I liked. I liked Yang Xiao / Zhao Min. The fighting was good, the music wasn't great but it was passable. People like Zhiruo over Zhao Min and I have no idea why. Zhiruo let her Master control her the whole time even after death she's almost as bad as Wuji being blind to good advice. Zhao Min on the other hand was smart, played by her own rules and didn't let anyone control her. She was probably the most unique character out of everyone. I rated this drama 8.0 and that is probably a bit too high. I liked the story more than the characters.

there’s a scene in which she’s looking at a photo of the squad and asks her grandma which one is yijin
thank you.

How is she going to recognize him??Look at 18 again drama the daughter didn't recognized the younger version of…
Yeah that is my whole point of my question really. People are using that as a reason for Yi Jin not being the father but no where does Min Chae actually say that she doesn't know him. At least from what I remember anyway.

can you tell me what episode? i completely missed it

I may have missed it but on what episode did Kim Min Chae explicitly say she didn't know what Baek Yi Jin looked like? I saw the one when she looked at the picture on the diary but she didn't say anything about it.

The whole drama, we get to see their love developed so it would be somewhat sad if they didn’t end up together.…
This person gets it. I find it 99% likely it end up happy with them together.

Let me preface this by saying I enjoyed watching this drama. The main leads performance was very good and their chemistry was top notch. That being said, I have some criticisms for this drama that led me to rating it an 8.5 instead of 9.5. 1 Major reason and 2 minor.

Before I start I want to say that this isn't to bash anyone or anyone's opinions. I do feel however, that because this drama ended on a "feel good" type of ending people get trapped in that moment and start losing the ability to critically think and give "honest" feedback and only get lost in those moments. I don't know maybe honest isn't the right word but I feel like people are not completely rational about some things. Having said that, I can understand feeling that way towards romantic comedies or some light-heart genres. You could ignore some of the ridiculousness through out those dramas if the ending was satisfying enough. Tailoring the same kind of thought for a drama based on suspense/thrills/plot twists and less on character growth or long form/essentially novel type stories doesn't make sense. Once again I'm not hating on anyone I just wish more people could be objective in dramas like these.

Here is my criticisms.

Starting with the major reason: I thought the problem solving for this drama was one of the huge upsides and kept things super suspenseful until the very end. That being said, for a drama based around problem solving I felt the reason to cause the problem was lacking and had no real punch. The loss of a child is one of the worst pains imaginable for parents and I can't fault them for grieving and wishing the worst for the person and people who caused harm towards their daughter while being alive and even after she died. With that said, the loss doesn't excuse becoming essentially terrorists with misguided thoughts. Choosing suicide is not uncommon in those circumstances, but harming several innocent people with their own set of tough issues in life is selfish and should never happen. They even planned doing this for 5 years. Now going back to what I said about lacking any punch. This is a drama, a suspenseful thriller at that, and because of the genre and being a DRAMA(not real life) I think the story they could have given us for the reason the bus was getting bombed could have been much more sinister, detailed and deep. I also think maybe having a twist like the female cop with short hair(not the chief)being best friends or something with the girl that died and could remotely trigger the bomb with her phone at 1:45 could have been amazing. Maybe they were best friends with the same ring tone or something like that. I know it's impossible for that to happen though because of China censorship deeming dramas not allowed to depict modern day cops in a villainous way. I can see the reason they kept it simple because there is only 15 episodes which brings me to my 2nd criticism.

First minor criticism: They spent nearly 2 complete episodes detailing the backstories of the terrorists. Normally for me that would be fine but considering there was only 15 episodes and from what I've said previously about their reason being so petty and misguided, I felt they wasted a lot of screen time for other things.

Second minor criticism: The time loop itself. They gave 0 reasons as to how the time loop started nor why the female lead was chosen and subsequently the male lead being sucked in with her.

In conclusion: I thought the drama was great, especially when they were in problem solver mode trying to get the bomb and knife away and not harm anyone. It's rare but, I think this drama suffers from having not enough episodes which usually dramas could have been cut shorter. The relationship between the leads was a massive upside as well and I would have never predicted early on that they would end up romantically involved. The development and pacing for them was perfect considering the bleak situation. Alright done rambling now thanks for reading.

I enjoy this drama but my biggest complaint is the lack of consequences for "failing" every time loop.
I know they get blown up every time (or stabbed) but even they themselves are not really reacting to that much anymore. It makes it way less suspenseful knowing that they may have unlimited time loops to figure this out. Even in episode 8 where the ML stabs someone I'm guessing they may be on the run from the cops for a while. In a normal drama would be super suspenseful but in this it's just buying time which makes it feel less important. They could and probably will introduce some sort of side effect to continuing this time loop but until they do the drama is just like playing Super Mario with infinite lives.

There are some points I don’t really agree with, for example : in Hunger Games, yes, not everyone had the choice…
They literally say, Squid Game and The Hunger Games are both about survival in unfavourable conditions in the post on the very first line. They also mention the money part for Hunger Games in the 2nd paragraph. That totally invalidates your whole first post.

They can't be. They're in 1980 and the skeleton has been found in 2021.1980 / 2021 = 41 yearThey're both around…
I haven't watched episode 11 yet but if the old man in the beginning is Myung Soo it's almost certainly a sad ending. The reason being, there is no way that MH and HT would let their siblings end up like that. They would at least put them on a path of success somehow. So either they both die(my prediction) or they went missing and couldn't find MS / HT's family.

I am between Soo Chan and Soo Ryun dying,SR might be bold but other times she has backed away the last minute…
Yeah, I agree with the Soo Ryun point. The only thing I would have to say about that is before she was just trying to protect her family the whole time, now she is seeing all her friends being hurt/taken away and has seemingly been emboldened by it. I think she lead 1 last protest and may be injured/killed from it.

I actually went back and forth with the Soo Chan/Myung Hee idea you have said. I think it's one of the few other conclusions that have a higher chance of happening.
I still stand by Hee Tae at least dying, only because the watch they show with the corpse in episode 1, but if it is really Myung Hee's dad maybe the man in the beginning was Myung Hee's little brother. I still think its Kyung Soo but we'll see.

I'm going to try and predict who lives and dies in these last 2 episodes. It's going to sound a bit pessimistic, but with how the history of this event unfolded I think it is more realistic than pessimistic.

Personally I think Lee Soo Ryun has like a 99% chance to die, she has always been bold and she may attempt to save people while dying. She is almost certain to die. Next with someone I think will actually live. I think her brother Lee Soo Chan will live almost certainly, I don't think it will be by choice though as he may be badly injured and not be able to help.

Now to be ultimately pessimistic and not realistic, I think both leads die. Usually in stories like this one lead will sacrifice themselves to protect the other(which is why this is pure pessimism). I'd like to believe they live in some way but with their constant reluctance to leave I feel the drama is really pushing them into the "heroes who died for the country" narration. It's a stretch but I think the skeleton in the beginning may be Hwang Hee Tae with the FL dad's watch.

As for who the homeless guy is in the beginning, I think it's possible that it is Kim Kyung Soo the soldier that never wants to do violence against the protesters.

I want to put all these predictions in text so I can see how wrong I am later. :o

Oh you've seen lots of drama, your list is pretty huge & updated, it's a pity you come here to speak about this…
I haven't even rated it yet I'm still watching, if i were to rate it right now it'd be 9.5 to 10. I don't see how your post applies to what I said previously though.
