Someone tell me im not dreaming, IS THIS FOR REAL???
a KDRAMA exploring the extremely harsh and dangerous REALITY of alcohol rather than normalising and romanticising excessive alcohol intake and bad drinking habits.
I honestly hate drunk scenes in kdramas, like who on earth would someone find grown ass adults acting like little children after a few drinks cute??? Its not cute, its immature, and dangerous to not only them, but those around them.
Worst of all, drunken kissed where one party is drunk and the other is sobre- not romantic at all, its creepy and uncomfortable!!
2 questions i always think during such scenes: was consent given? And if it was, if the person is drunk and not 110% aware of everything thats happening, is such consent valid???
I wont get my hopes up just yet, but im definitely keeping an eye on this one.
Once again, no blame on Shin Se Kyung, the fault lies with the writers who built up this super interesting, intense character, and then just kind of left her there, like one of many shiny ornaments on a christmas tree.
People were going at Shin Se Kyung like she killed their whole family tree, like calm down people!!!
Like you said, she was doing what was told of her, so if anything, blame the writers, not the actress who im sure worked really hard, and personally, i would say did quite well with what was given to her- though i have to admit, the constant teary eyes got boring after a while- something i also blame the writers for, for not making use of the potential her character had.
I was looking for an intense romance story with pain and loss, i wanted the fl to be full of hatred and love for the king, and i wanted to see her go harder on the king, and get her bloody revenge despite loving him. She had so mich potential as a grey fl, but unfortunately, the writers focused too much on the queen dowager and the kings uncle, and other characters rather than utilising the main fl character's potential.
