Not to argue but by that logic something like LOTR movie should be considered a failure since it was the exact story from the books. What you want to say doesn't apply to this. Take The Witcher tv series for a example. It's not the same story or at least doesn't follow the same sequence as the books but the characters and their story are still the same but here they changed the whole dynamic of a character or put things which were not necessary. Never said I didn't like this, you can check my comment after finishing this but the contrast of how much they changed is just too big, that was what I meant.
So after catching up with the anime I get why many were against this. I think rather than saying this is an adaptation, it would be better to say it's an alternate version of the story. Too many things, from story to characters have been drastically changed to call this the same story which makes absolutely no sense to me why they would do this. I would recommend people to watch the anime to get the perspective to know what's the problem.
P.s - waiting for 1 episode every week for the anime feels unfair. For those who know the full story, how much of it's story has been done in the anime upto now? Also any other to watch while waiting for this one.
Just finished and feel afraid that it might end like other shows which didn't get another season. Dont know if it's as good as the anime or novel or how much the story has changed but as an individual drama I would say I am more than satisfied. You get a base story at the beginning ( which some might find boring but I didn't as I was more curious about my questions and kept watching the next episode) but around after 20 episodes when all the ground work is done, the story just keeps on going on ( sometimes jumping from one plotline to another in a single episode ) I think all the cast played their part perfectly and actually made a good team. Don't know why some say there isn't much romance because I all saw was three couples where the girls kept teasing others about love interest while being oblivious of their own and the guys going all mad if someone even touched their girls.
Just really hope the second season is done and with the same cast where they get together really soon.

I get that it might take some getting into but I think it's worth it because the end makes up for everything. The last 15-20 episodes went by in a flash for me leaving me wanting more.

Don't think it's that simple with HSY and TN. They still have sparks in this one. But yeah I agree with people's obsession about comparing the two shows.
This was exactly what I expected it to be because the title itself says " Dt appledogs time " which is why I don't get why most people keep comparing it with the first one. Besides the core story is still the same with the main characters having the same backstory. It's simply being told in a more simple and un angsty way. Anyways the show for me was about Wu Bai and Ai Qing and their love. Yes it might be cringy at times but the understanding they had for each other and also the way they always helped each other without being told to was what I liked the most. Will certainly miss this one.
