As if making your boyfriend step brother was not enough, the writer ran out of ideas so much that he had to come up with a plot where FL's best girl friend (teenage) is having a fling with her old father like seriously ? both FL and SFML were written so bad that it will make you question the intent of writer. FL is spoiled brat who does not have anything to do except to throw tantrums and follow the ML lead around, SFL is always looking for sugar daddies... first it was her young bf who took care of her and helped her with money, house and stuff then after break up FL's old dad became her sugar daddy helping her land a job and make connections in high end parties.
I started this drama because of the ML but left utterly disappointed, would give this drama negative rating if possible :)

(Personal Opinion) - For me the worst character of all was JI although i know many die hard fans are there too. He manipulated friendship and love to get what he wants that is the girl he likes. His confession was too late, as he already manipulated the emotionally immature girl to fall in love with him first. Here are some of MY observations
1) The kiss from stranger can never be justified.
2) He knew both his friend and his love interest Jina still like each other but he decided by himself that its better for them to move on. The criticism Jina was getting and made her fans angry were about using only 1 character in her romance novels that is her first love, at the end of story Jina started to write about JI in her novels, which makes me wonder where is her character development exactly ? if down the line after 5 years her fans gets bored by JI as new character in her story will JI suggest her to find someone new to fall in love so she can write better like he did in case of his friends love ?
3) If he really cared about his brotherly friendship, why did he not ask Jina to help him grow up, sometimes love need a push ? arrange there meeting or give her the contact details of HK and explain to her about what is going on with HK as Jina got no clue about it. The way i see it is HK is a bastard in his eyes but he likes him but he will not allow Jina to like a bastard like him ? Let Jina decide whether she wants to love and help the immature and emotionally unstable HK and not make a decision for her.
4) HK is so bad, but as his best friend and brother JI is only enabling him, he gives his expensive car for him to show off, never allow him to go through hardships and grow as a person by always pestering and spoiling him. For me HK is a bad person and JI is just as bad. He very well know that HK is not cheating on Jina, he is not living a luxurious life also.
At the end of the day it was Jina's decision to chose and in my view she got totally manipulated by an handsome, rich and intelligent JI. I was not able to see any character development of Jina's personality.

consent is in action and your body language too, you do not ask your wife your gf/wife every time you kiss her, JI clearly is appearing at every vulnerable moment of Jina to win her heart and console her because he is the "good guy" somehow. You can clearly see where it was forced but I can bet my 2 cents of your bias because of personal like towards star kissing her. To me Jina is weak character who can't even slap a random guy kissing her the first time she meets with no way of knowing good/bad guy.
The debate is unending so lets rest with our respective take on situation and enjoy the show.

I have not seen the drama, but I get the normalization of such things in dramas which result in such thinking over time. It was my first comment ever and i wanted to express my thoughts.
The reason I commented was because some people(maybe actors fan) were saying they found it cute, they found it innocent, it was small mistake, he is not bad "he just could not see a woman crying in rain" that's what Jina said in last episode.
If two people know each other and has some romantic tension going on or got crush and such thing happen then surely i can give a pass because of normalization. But without the whole story, just think about you sitting in rain crying in some messy relationship and some random stranger dude come and kiss you out of pity or whatever his reason are, would you accept it ? you have not given any signal to that guy to proceed, you don't know shit about his intentions.

they know each other, she knows he likes her. When he kissed Jina she didn't even know the guy. A stranger coming out of nowhere and kissing you is different from a couple (kinda) who is getting to know each other and aware of feelings.
If its same for you then idk............ but i believe if you rethink and look at it without bias, you would find it disgusting too :)

I am not at all rooting for HK, I hate both the SML( One is childish and immature other one is manipulative in a way), if its up to me I would rather want her to be out of love triangle and start new life but as you said, its her decision so let see.
The problem for me is I don't see the honesty in JI, he went to clarify things when he nearly got caught and started feeling guilty that HK might have found out, and hiding truth from his friend and the girl you are supposed to be in love until the point that girl fall for you is really manipulative( He is really smart, and he can easily see the girl is falling for him).

To me, it was not made clear in any episode that JI advised or tried to bring them together when she was sitting outside for days rather it looked like he already decided that there is no future for them (they could have met outside if HK went outside with umbrella and JI did not make the Jina go).
Second point is about the kiss, I would mark it as a mistake if JI was an ordinary guy with normal intellect, but his character is written as know it all, extremely intelligent and mature guy, if such a guy is kissing a girl without consent the first time they meet its 100% SEXUAL assault. Like he is not a fool who is ignorant, he is sophisticated and mature guy. That is my biggest problem, you and i know he pity her or whatever but from Jina's perspective, she don't know him and if you can give pass to a good looking guy for a kiss without consent, its messed up. I would totally label him as a bad guy.
If you can give pass to sexual assault guy just because he turned out to be good later, why not give pass to HK for his mistakes as well, he can also mature and turn out to be good in future.
PS - its just my opinion and not trying to argue with you :)

I do agree that Hyunkyu is no better. The way is see it is its there relationship to sort out and she does not even know JI at start, there were times when they could have met but JI prevented it. He filled the void left by his friend and even if he is willing to give her time to sort out her fillings now, Noone can deny he took the opportunity to insert himself in a messed up relationship with lies and betrayal. Some say that she loved the 18 year HK and don't love him now, but my point is if JI helped the girl meet HK earlier instead of trying to win her over and with some time, they could have matured together and found new start (who knows). Some say JI is very considerate(like giving umbrella in rain, shoulder to cry on, defending her) but how can one be sure that HK would not have done same after starting again with her and JI not in picture. Its life ... people grow up from mistakes.

I am not defending HK at all, its just that It seems like Jina character was written so weak, she always needs someone else to dictate terms of her life and love, first it was HK and now its JI, get a grip on yourself girl and start a new. Leave this messy triangle and be independent and strong woman writer with own thoughts.

I want to understand the viewpoint of people who are supporting joo ik and Jina , Ones who are not judging right or wrong based on there preference for there fav star.
To start with, joo ik clearly mentioned that he liked jina form the Beginning. Now, you kissed your best friends gf the first time you meet her, betrayed your friends trust by hiding your true intentions and going behind his back, betrayed an already emotionally wrecked girl by playing god and coming up with a theory that to improve her writing all she needs is to love a new guy and guess what that new guy would be him playing the good guy.
Next, Jooik is able to like Hyungyu as a brother and was able to put up with all the bad qualities and live with him but he will not allow Jina to meet Hyungu to sort out there relationship and let the Girl make HER decision on whether she can accept his bad side like jooik did and whether she can help him grow as a person or Break up, Instead you made the decision for the girl and only came clean to both when you got nearly caught.
A woman is empowered when you let her make her decisions, let her go through life and learn. Just because you want to win her heart, you came up with your absurd ideas to justify your manipulation and betrayal. For me personally, if you "like" your friend and truly love the girl, let be the mediator, let them both sit down and talk it out first before you make your move.

P.S, Just want to add a point about JI kiss as some people pointed it out as pity or impulse only, Kissing a girl WITHOUT her consent is Sexual assault.... no matter what intention you have or what feelings you got its a big no no, there is no way to justify it, its not some small mistake but punishable offense by law and we should not take it lightly in any situation.
