I don't recall ever condemning a consensual relationship, my problem is with the siblings trope and the fact that this series is promoting it, supposedly unknowingly since the main characters aren't related in the slightest yet the title of the drama is "Brothers". I don't know what they were trying to achieve with that but it does make me uncomfortable how they feel the need to advertise this as incest when it is actually far from that. And I wish I felt even the tiniest need to watch this in order to find out for myself, but I'm tired of giving problematic plotlines a chance (aka the teacher/student plotline). I hope it contains a constructive message, as you put it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.
True... but this trope isn't limited to BL. There's an entire "stepsiblings" subgenre in MF romance too (though…
I don't believe that I have done your version of research and I don't claim to be stating facts, but years of watching series and movies, and listening to LGBTQ+ people discuss the Hollywood tropes that are damaging to the community, while not many straight people suffer from that except for the occasional "sweet home Alabama" joke, has formed my opinion on the matter. I mean, for years and years the LGBTQ+ community has been regarded as predatory and the whole sibling trope is just that. I'm not talking about this particular situation where the "brothers" were strangers before their parents got married, but the actual siblings trope (which is -intentionally or not- being promoted throught the series' title).

If the series is about multiple love stories, why would it be titled Brothers, which puts focus on a relationship that isn't even incestuous but for some reason the writers want it to come off that way? Isn't that even the slightest bit concerning when the siblings storyline isn't even about siblings but it's about two completely unrelated people who happen to meet through an unconventional way and fall in love? This series might not use the brothers trope but it sure as hell advertises it and even if we ignored that fact, the teacher/student relationship is still an issue. And forgive me for not believing that the series condemns that through musical cues because for the writers to condemn pedophilia, they should actually show the teacher/adult being arrested for once.

LBC was actually my favourite BL when I first watched it because it was the fluffiest relationship I had ever seen. But yeah the Kla/No situation ruined it for me because if I recommended the series I was basically promoting /that/ too. I don't mind the spoiler and I do believe that that's a great way to handle Tar/Tum. Very surprising but it might just be the best part of LBC2.

To be honest, I tried to give LBC2 a chance (no pun intended) but the main couple were still as toxic as I remembered them to be (not to mention the whole situation with Techno/Kengla and Tin's brother and his "love interest" or whatever they were) and I gave up so I honestly can't imagine how the series managed to handle Tar/Tum in a non-toxic way.
I do agree with the step-siblings trope being prevalent in non-LGBTQ+ settings as well, but the harm that it does to straight culture is non-existent compared to the damaging effect it has on the LGBTQ+ community. To this day, there are people who regard queer folks as pedophiles, incestuous, and above asking for consent (I don't know how else to say this without mentioning the crime itself). And what do most Thai BLs do? Promote teacher-(underage) student relationships, (step)siblings becoming a couple and toxic tops forcing themselves onto their partners.
I don't expect the whole industry to change from one day to the next, but I wish the people responsible for LGBTQ+ content and representation were a bit more educated and mindful of the tropes they are supporting and promoting.
Okay so another Thai BL with step-incest ("they're not real brothers tho, it's okay" it's dangerous territory and harmful to the LGBTQ+ community because it eventually leads to supporting real incest in BLs and y'all know it), and pedophilia (I wish I could report the makers of this series -and every similar series- to the police for promoting pedophilia and making it look like it's okay for a teacher to act like that towards a student). I'm not even thinking of giving this series a chance. Well done, Thailand. I love how you take one step forward and ten steps back with every other BL you produce.
Um, how do people know if they like it or not if they don't start watching? You're not making sense. They watch…
Sad but true. I'm tired of seeing shows like this one, TharnType, LBC, etc. being praised when they are beyond problematic. It's not even about taste, it's the violation of basic human rights being brushed under the rug.

I couldn't agree more. This comment basically sums up all of my problems with this drama. I honestly don't understand how more people aren't uncomfortable and uneasy while watching it...
I Told Sunset About You has been an experience, to say the least. I have never been this invested in a series, in a bunch of fictional characters and a fictional but very real and profound story. I won't say much about the production, directing, acting and OST because it's all been said before and, honestly, no words of mine would do justice to the magnitude of this masterpiece. What really got me emotional though (apart from every single episode) is the fact that they allowed us to be with them through the whole process of creating and realizing this project, with all the ups and downs - and we still have 5 more episodes of the documentary left so there's that. But the reason I'm even writing this now is because I've never felt more connected to a series fandom more than I have this past month and especially tonight. This comment section alone is so wholesome and made my love for this project grow without me even realizing it. So yeah, thank you everyone for such a fun time. Let's keep supporting all the wonderful and talented people of ITSAY in the future - the very near future :)
Same here. I was feeling really grateful for the work that was put into this project and I wanted to show my love…
Yeah, I feel you. I took a risk downloading ep4 (from dramacool i think) because I was travelling when it came out and I wanted to watch it offline. So that's one solution I guess. That's also one of the reasons why I paid for the last episode, the guilt made me do it lol

I'm still in shock so I hadn't even thought of that! I'm definitely saving up for part 2 as well. And I agree, I'd love to be able to keep watching the paid episodes for a long time after they air and not just a month.
I couldn't buy all the episodes, but I decided to purchase the last one. I really wanted to support this project.…

i have watched many entertaining and enjoyable shows that are not "cinematic masterpieces" and this is neither…
i see your point, its entertaining value is pretty subjective after all and your experience with the show is just as valid as mine, no matter how much they may differ
