Person Zhang Zhe Han
AvenueX just uploaded a video explaing the situation as a chinese person. The ZZH stuff starts at 9 min mark.Basically…
Yup, I agree. Japanese war crimes during the Sino-Japanese War was very much "front and center" in history classes there from elementary school onward. The government often refers to Japanese war crimes to rile up nationalism. I don't buy for a second that Zhang Zhe Han did not know about it. I don't buy his claims of ignorance.

Where can I watch with English subs
The only place I know that has subs is on iQiyi but it's VIP subscription to get the whole show. You can also find the raw version on YouTube if you search for the title in Chinese 动物管理局. It's a shame that this show hasn't been put on the YouTube for free with subs like many others.

The ending pretty much ruined the whole experience for me. It was unrealistic, unearned and pretty much a bad…
I sort of agree. I think the ending, esp the last episode, felt really rushed. I think this is kind of typical in the 16 episode k-drama format. They spent the majority of this drama detailing the anguish/pain of the ML only for it to turn around so quickly and it felt very disjointed. I think if it the drama was longer and had more time/episodes to show the process of the ML forgiveness, the FL's repentance and the overall couple's reconciliation then maybe the ending would have been more appropriate, and not only made more sense but feel more satisfying. I really feel the writers were rushed at the end to put in a "happy ending" for all the CPs, which is kind if disappointing considering how good the rest of the drama felt.

Title Rattan
I love this drama so much! but does anyone else think the music is too loud when they are talking??
Been watching this on YouTube and only on Ep9 but I did notice that the sound mixing has the dialogue way too soft when compared to background music and environmental music. I didn't notice this at the beginning. I wonder if this is true on the home platform Youku.

Title Train
Ms Oh was a multiple traveller across universes. By my count, five or so. That was the hand count she was doing…
I wish the ending would have been more satisfying.

Person Gyeong Su Jin
Saw her first on "I Live Alone" she's adorable lol, and dang, the girl knows how to use a power drill (pre-drilling and tapping concrete is not easy, trust me). Didn't know much about her work but then saw Train and damn... she's talented. One of my fav actresses in the kdrama world.

Hidden gem. Creative, funny, witty, poignant at times. Overall a really good show. I especially love the tardigrade that really wants to kill himself but can't because he's basically indestructible and immortal. Such a funny character.

Really underrated drama. Not a big budget project, but it punches way above it's weight. The cinematography is very well done, the acting and script writing is pretty solid. I hope they make a second season of this because it is very worth the watch. Plus, at 24 episodes it doesn't drag.

Hm that's new to me. Didn't know about that. Interesting. Although I don't get why those would be banned... since…
Yeah, I have no idea why either, especially considering how important ghosts/demons and other superstitions are to Chinese culture throughout history. I think the ban was enacted back in 2008 and only some exceptions were made (like the Pixar movie Coco). I don't think anyone can really figure out the workings of the Chinese state media control mechanisms. But what I do find really funny and interesting is the huge number of dramas that are out that are adopted from BL web novels that drop hints about their BL nature despite BL being officially not allowed. AvenueX (a Chinese YouTuber based in Canada that does a lot of cdrama reviews) recently put out a video about how the voice dubbing in the recent drama, Word of Honor, had to work really hard to cover up some of the BL scripted lines but the lip-reader fans have figured all of it out and posted it on Weibo. it was pretty funny. :)

Great article about a very interesting drama. One thing that dramas like this always kind of annoy me (not the fault of the drama or the writer) is that Chinese censors have banned the subject matter of "demons" and "ghosts" and thus, many dramas use "aliens" as an alternative for the fantasy/supernatural plot line. Overall a minor nuisance but I think for a lot of fantasy plots, "demons" or "ghosts" works much better than "aliens", which kind of hints at sci-fi in my mind.
