It would have been better if this was portrayed by a different female lead. She looks lost all the time and what a terrible hair and make up.

Though this was released in 2011 which means the series was probably in production sometime in 2010 or 2009 - the quality of the story is fantastic. What a great story telling. There's only very few Chinese historical dramas now a days that has the same caliber of story telling.

I definitely agree with you. What a remarkable story. I cried and cried. I love Ruoxi and the 8th prince though. They have better chemistry.

Now this is rather a surprising and riveting drama coming out from China so far this year. I'm indeed pleased with this regardless of some cliches but what Chinese historical drama doesn't.

What a lovely indeed a lovely story. A must watch for those who likes romantic dramas. A romance under the backdrop of war, revenge, jealousy and unrequited love.

This such a great story telling of a woman living during bygone times. Who faced thousands of challenges when it comes to her desire of being a doctor and for her love. Indeed very good story. Really love Cecilia Liu's chemistry with her on screen partners. She and Wallace Huo had to suffer a lot of struggles as friends. While the emperor knows he loved Yun Xian - Yun Xian loves his brother. But she didn't realize that she loved the emperor as well I guess...Bittersweet ending... A must watch!

This is such a terrific series. It's so underrated. If you watch this don't expect Story of Yanxi Palace type of story. Indeed not! Completely different. Good choice of cast and their characters. Although it's a romanticized story of the mother of the first Chinese emperor - it's superbly done. Love it.
