The manga did a better job dealing with this subject. We all know how Japan deal with this kind of topics, so it's not a surprise the way these kinds of relationships develop in the movie. I mean, all the relationships in this story are f*d up, so I wouldn't have expected something different
I read the novel, and I think it is almost impossible that this movie will ever see the light. The topic is too controversial to not be censored by the Chinese government. And even if it gets a green light, I'm afraid it will lose most of its strengths. The story criticizes Chinese society and its education system to the point that it makes you feel disgusted. Besides, the novel is based on a true story.
It would be such a shame that this movie would never be aired because the story was very deep, intense, emotional, and painful.
I read some reviews and this surprised me: If it feels as though a lot is missing from Sons Of The Neon Night, it’s because there probably is; it has been suggested the film’s first cut clocked in at nearly seven hours.
It was a good adaptation of the novel. Although it deviated a little, the main story and questions remained almost the same. Miyazawa Rie was the best part of the movie
A good adaptation of the novel, although with less depth than the book. Maybe if some interactions were longer, not the sex scenes, it would have been even better.
If we don't focus on the sex scenes but on the relationship between the main character and women, we could appreciate the director main focus.
The movie wasn't the best ever, but it is a good representation of the role of women in that period of time in China, basically, second-class citizens.
I also watch it without subs, on 9tsu; I couldn't wait for the subs.
It would be such a shame that this movie would never be aired because the story was very deep, intense, emotional, and painful.
Maybe in 20 more years they will release this cut
I just hope this won't be painful for the ML

I'll definitely read the manga
