tbh I am not really worried about the drama having a tragic ending, looking back at real history and the way the drama is going on, it doesn't look it's heading that way..... I haven't read any novel, the one I see many of you mention often, but I did research King Jeongjo of Joseon and so far every thing shown has happened in reality.
In real life they did have a happy ending. Deok im is referred to as his only beloved concubine in history..... however he did have 4 wives( there is already 2 in the drama).....he had children with two of them....deokim being one...but sadly their children didn't survive, their first born was immediately named as crowned prince but he died at the age of 3. In addition, deokim died during her third advanced pregnancy. Sana then waited and got married and had a child three years later....being a king he does need a successor...I don't blame him for that. Anyways he also died at the age of 47. I guess in the past people just used to die early...
So to sum it up I can only say, they did have a happy ending to their love story. Yes, they died but it was natural death so there is really no one to blame...Jeongjo is one of the loved king of all times and his era of reign was really peaceful....They can never distort history by making them apart in the drama unless the writers are twisted. But they don't seem that way, the writers and directors haven't disappointed us and worked spectacularly so farand I trust them to be that way in upcoming episodes too.
