Yes they did cast Sebrina Chen as Shi Mei. Filming has been completed and they are currently in post production. The Drama will be released in 2021. You can find behind the scenes pics on Instagram and YouTube. I most likely I will not watch it unless I absolutely have nothing better to do.

Due to China's censorship laws not allowing gay relationships to be portrayed in films/TV they had to rewrite the screenplay so it can pass the censors. They did in fact cast a female for Shi Mei which in the novel is a male love rival. I loved this novel and I might be a little upset with this but what can you do.
