hmm, I agree with you, but in the previews we see she does end up telling him. Also in her defence, she was on her way to tell FSG when she found out but murong stopped her and threatened her and we do see her try again but can’t because of the assassins.
I am not too sure where they’re going with the story of the newlyweds but I’m assuming it’s going to lead to the main/bigger plot of the show? maybe he needs to overthrow his brother and then the story will progress. I don’t know if they wanted us to care about the 2ml or just wanted us to just get his POV to understand what his reasons are for all this. I feel like it’s more so we don’t have a flat villain so idm the backstory.

I think it is pretty realistic because falling in love can often begin from admiration and can make people form an attachment where you see him start to care for her well being also them having shared struggles can strengthen their relationship it’s not pity that he’s feel for her but more empathy and a sense of understanding and obv him finding her pretty which we knew early on when they said the picture was painted based on his description

I think you could see him falling through the episodes like first he admired her bravery and then he also saw how kind she was like when the children came, and probably that he sees they’re alike and sympathies with her etc
