Absolutely brilliant film about class and women's role in Japan. The film masterfully sheds light onto universal struggles through small mundane moments of the two characters. I was really blown away. It's a delicate, subtly film that will hold your attention and make you empathize with these women.
I adored this drama. But it’s only complete if you watch the 2017 special. That is where the story and the romance reach a fulfilling end. I also recommend Juhan Shuttai if you like this kind of uplifting female focused drama.
I have to agree. I am so shocked the reviews above don’t mention this at all. I would have liked a warning. There is a lot of physical abuse, gaslighting and stalking. I’ve watched countless Korean and Japanese dramas and they are not the most feminist, but crosses a line imo.
I also recommend Juhan Shuttai if you like this kind of uplifting female focused drama.
