Title Start-Up
Is it just me, or was NDS acting like a little bitch the entire show? HJP's indecisiveness was definitely a red flag too, but NDS was a trash ML. He's smart and handsome but acts like a child through and through, right until the end. It's quite laughable. Outside the love triangle, show was great. Loved the actual start up aspect of it all.

I was in no way trying to downplay the OG. Fact is, I like SOOD much more than ATCY. I was merely pointing out why some people are turned off by the so called "quality." None of it bothered me in the slightest and I actually agree that the "high production quality" for ATCY was more over the top then SOOD's more realistic looking sets. The fact is, people are just used to the high budget sets, so this is no way was an attack on SOOD so no need to get so defensive.

i just started the remake, and warched the first eps, but as the reminder, please bare for the 2 eps for the original…
I'll let you know once I finish the K version. So prob tomorrow. I will say, the T drama's ending leaves some lingering questions that mostly get answered in the extra scene and movie.

I finished watching the kdrama and planning to watch this one
Please do. The K remake is done well. But paying respect to the OG shows your maturity.

now they are saying og looks cheap and FL's acting is bad🙃
Taiwanese budget in the entertainment industry is also much lower than Korea. I love me some K-dramas but what these Koreaboos don't understand is if SOOD wasn't a thing, the Korean remake would also not exist. Its basic logic. The K remake is fine but give respect to the OG for the masterpiece it is.

so which one should i watch to give me the best experience of this story? the original or the korean remake?i…
It's prob not the encoding quality. Moreso, Taiwan's entertainment industry has a much lower budget so it doesn't look as flashy or pristine. Once you overlook that, you'll come to enjoy it for what it is. To be fair, the T actors are also older than their HS counterpart, bur they're supposed to be playing 2 characters. Or at least the leads are. So it makes sense in both, they cast older actors

people gave bad rating because the remake its not good enough, but seems that kdrama fans eat any shit as long…
I just started and I can see objectively where you're coming from. But I still don't think it deserves a 1 yknow? I myself am not feeling it. There's a lot of unnecessary jumping around the different times without explanation as to why. The T strung it together where it made sense. But I'm still giving this the benefit of the doubt. I hardly rank dramas a 1 to 4 as I'm not a huge critic. 5 to 6 tend to just be ave but not rewatchable. 7-8 are ave but rewatchable. 9-10 for me personally means something about it struck a chord. Not quite getting anything that feeling from this, but yeah, I getcha.

I agree to an extent. I feel the same when the US tries to cash cow on remaking asian media. Remember that "Train to Busan" American remake that was announced then silently cancelled? I think it sorely depends. For instance, Boys Over Flowers came from Japan but everyone talks about Meteor Garden. I haven't seen MG but am def willing to give it a watch, but paying homage and respect to BOF is necessary as the OG paved the way for said remakes. Remakes can be hit or miss. I just don't like the idea of bashing on one without objectivity and using the "the original is so much better" card. 9/10 times, remakes don't beat the OG anyway but they can still be good in other aspects.

I actually marathoned the OG right before this was released. I was in the mood to watch good T/C dramas and heard about SOOD and thoroughly enjoyed it. Then come to find this was releasing soon after so I like, "perfect timing."

"Good enough" is subjective. An adaptation is rarely better than the original, but I don't think it deserves 1. Not every scene is going to be the same. In fact if it were, it'd be boring af. No point on watching something that already exists. Seeing the different flares is what gives it uniqueness. Objectively, one could argue maybe it'd a 5 or 6 (average rating). But a 1? That's just bias.

I do agree. Die hard K-drama fans need to branch out and watch from other regions.

Ahh. Yeah, I was moreso speaking in generalities. K-Dramas tend to overshadow other regions in Asia so hard core KDrama fan may not even think to watch the OG. Respect to you though. The OG is actually good, but I agree with you that mocking a remake even before it came out is incredibly off-putting

There's a character whose background is briefly introduced as a gay character. That's about it. Not a big plot heavy development.

It does jump around a lot more without any context. The OG generally and a certain way it sets things up so you know what's going on. Still a good watch though for sure!

Because not everyone watches all types of dramas. That's too much to go through. Some people are niche drama watchers. I think after watching a remake and after doing some studying on the origin, it's nice to go back and watch the OG to pay respect to it and see why it was so popular but not everyone is going to watch the OG of something
On A Time Called You Sep 9, 2023
I just started and after having just watched the OG T-drama. Yes, the comparison is inevitable. But you people need to chill out. Giving it a one just because the OG is superior. There's a reason why it's a called a remake/adaption. It's going to have the same elements as the OG as a base, but differences are always going to exist. This does not deserve a 1 by any means.

Likewise, people who did not watch the OG, please understand that this is in fact an adaptation and paying respect and homage to it is deserved. Keep in mind the T-drama was only released 4 years ago so its still very fresh and new to slower drama watchers.

To sum up: OG fans, learn to respect an adaption and stop trying to nitpick every little thing because they "changed this and that." It's not going to be the exact same thing. That's not the purpose of an adaption. And people who were introduced to this, give praise where it's deserved but don't think of this an OG. Elements from SOOD are going to exist and by watching the OG one day, you'll come to understand by it was so beloved.

2ML is the most abusive, controlling, narcissistic mother f-er I have ever seen. Like the man knows no boundaries. Weiwei gave him so many chances and his sole focus was work. I'm not a fan of Kehuan either, he was incredibly forceful in the beginning and still somewhat in the end, but at least he has SOME level of respect for boundaries. HaoYi is absolute trash

Title Nevertheless, Spoiler
I wouldn't say this drama is "toxic"," but the relationship between ML and FL definitely had more to do with physical/sexual attraction and thrill vs genuine love, which DOES eventually develop. It outlines contemporary dating in a nutshell. People always base things off physical attraction and excitement, before personality, whether we like to admit it or not. Bias does exist. I honestly love 2ML and really feel for him, but this is the reality of dating. It's a solid drama altogether because of how real it is and the people who hate on it either watch too many cliches or hate their dating life.

If you consider the webtoon though, then yes, PJE is a toxic character and the ending of this drama sort of encourages toxic behavior, but the drama does deviate from the webtoon and doesn't explore those concepts as deeply.

Title Love Alarm Spoiler
Late to the Love Alarm Fandom thankfully. I don't actually get peoples support for Jojo and Sunoh. The man literally knew how much his best friend since childhood, who also happened to be one of his only support systems; liked her and literally swooped in and made a move. And throughout a lot of the story, he's been nothing but a whiny, selfish prick who thinks he deserves the world. I feel for his family situation but he's the definition of a walking red flag. Hye Yeong has been nothing but supportive of the 2 throughout this season as well and not once pushed his feelings onto Jojo until 4 years after the breakup. This man deserves the love he never got the chance because his dick of a best friend cucked him . Just saying the facts. I don't hate Sunoh, but he's not a good friend that's for sure.

Title Love Is for Suckers Spoiler
The chef and webtoon writer together is a twist that I love! Also, after the FL gave her love confession I understand…
Apparently realism is not desired. I've not been frustrated with this show one bit. The production aspect, and love aspect is all grounded in reality and that's the best thing about it. None of the characters are all that bad except probably Mr. Conman. SFL gets too much hate for being in love and is seen as whiny. But a broken heart can do that. FL is dogged on for being wishy-washy, but she was just hurt by the same man that hurt her years ago. Why realistic shows get so much flack is beyond me. Am I sad for SFL? Yeah. I actually really like her and she's more my "type" if you can even call it that, then the FL is. Not that the FL is a bad character, because she isn't. Community can be toxic and the excuse is "it's bad writing" when it really isn't. It's writing grounded in reality.
