From Reborn Rich every Sat - Sun drama of Jtbc is doing better than Tvn sat - Sun dramas... Reborn Rich vs Queens…
JTBC has been putting huge investments on content, so the quality of their production is really high. I think not only they changed their teams, they've changed their strategy.
You see, JTBC started to gain so much popularity in 2016, when their news division exposed the "Choi Soon-Shil gate" scandal, which was the instrument to impeach Park Geun-hye. So basically, they've put most of their efforts in strengthening their news programming, because before this, their news and current affairs programming barely rated 2%. After that scandal broke out, they have outranked both SBS and MBC's main news programs, and they managed to rate around 7-10%. But after Sohn Suk-hee left JTBC's main newscast, their news program struggled again, and it somehow affected some of their programs.
Their fellow general cable channels (TV Chosun, Channel A and MBN) continue to put more attention to news and cultural programming because they are cheaper to produce and they attract decent audience figures, it's noticeable that JTBC changed their strategy by putting much more focus on drama and entertainment. To begin with, their core target is the 19-49 age group, which advertisers love. Also, a lot of people in this age group would prefer watching drama and entrainment more than news and cultural programming, as the latter skews more older viewers.
Currently, TV Chosun is 3rd behind KBS1 and KBS2, while JTBC is 8th. But JTBC's 19-49 rating is higher that TV Chosun, MBN and Channel A combined, and at some point, had beaten MBC's demographic ratings.
I have also read that JTBC went "in the black" last year thanks to the content they sold overseas. Also, their advertising revenue is twice bigger than TV Chosun. So basically, their change in focus is helping them in their revenues.
Someone put Yagi Rikako in ''support role'' position.Couldn't be more wrong.Yagi Rikako carries the whole storyline…
I know, right? I'm so in love with her acting. I think Shiori is portrayed in the drama series better than the anime. I mean, in the drama series, we can actually see her character development as a Hime-sama who's trying to understand human emotions and gradually acquiring them in the process of interacting with Kuga-kun and his siblings. I just think Rikako is nailing it. :D
I thought this drama they fall for each other a bit too early. how about the manga?
It's a bit faster in the manga because Shiori (somehow) confessed her feelings for Kuga on Chapter 4, while the latter confessed on the 5th chapter.
Also, I would say that the drama is a bit more dramatic than the manga, but I think that's expected because I feel that the drama wants to humanize the characters even more.
Why is this show so cute?! I like the chemistry of the two main characters.
I love Rikako's acting as Shiori. She's quite good for the role. I guess, knowing that I have read the manga, I kinda expected her mannerism in the live action series, and Rikako-san just nailed it (me thinks).
Seriously, there has been an expectation that NHK dramas are dull and boring, primarily because they are a public broadcaster. But they've been creating tons of underrated series as of late, including this one!
We still have 6 more weeks left for this series. Can't wait for fresh episodes! :D
