i do feel like it’s sad that JBH ended up returning to his own body, and my heart clenched when the king remarked to himself that he felt that something was missing. but i think the ending is the best that could’ve happened, because everything returned to how it’s supposed to be.
i see JBH’s role in this drama is a catalyst; he’s able to bring such huge changes to the ppl around him in the past. those changes never would’ve been possible without his intervention: the king wouldn’t have seen the queen for who she truly is nor have a clear vision of the future, and the queen never would’ve thought that there’s actually a way to fight back against tyranny and her family’s shackles. JBH’s honesty and unique personality broke the ice that prevented the king & queen from understanding each other.
i do agree that a significant part of the reason why king fell in love with queen (possessed by JBH) is bc of JBH’s personality shining through, but it’s not the only reason. JBH’s appearance GAVE THEM A CHANCE to be together. JBH transmigrating to the past, i think, is a divine intervention meant to give the past a better ending.

this is one of the worst dramas ive ever watched in my entire life. everything about this is so bad. not one single good point. i think park shiyeon is pretty but even i got sick to my stomach seeing her on screen bc of how terrible her role here is. anyways dont watch this drama if u want to keep ur braincells lol
this drama isn’t bad but bongsun barely had any involvement in her life and that fucking sucks. how can u possibly let a ghost live inside ur body 24/7, use ur body to work, interact with others, and have fun with your boyfriend??? ep 9-11 was the worst one bc the ghost didn’t want to fuck the chef so she kept avoiding his advances (bc she didn’t want to leave earth just yet), why can’t she just leave bongsun’s body and let bongsun do whatever she wants then? the ghost controlled every aspect of bongsun’s life and that’s just fucking terrible. the chef fell in love with half bongsun and half ghost, but ONLY the ghost interacted with the chef, not bongsun. bongsun missed out on EVERYTHING in her early relationship with the chef, does she not see anything terribly wrong with that???

also, finally, fuck sungoh. he literally stalked jojo, cornered her, and assaulted her. i don’t fucking care, it’s sexual assault. jojo clearly said she didn’t want it, and there was no way anyone could know that jojo would actually enjoy the kiss, but sungoh continued to kiss her anyway, which means that first initial act was an assault. dude went after the girl that his best friend of his whole life likes, the best friend who went thru thick and thin with him, and his first reaction was to kiss the girl???? what a fucking dick. he’s possessive, controlling, won’t take no for an answer, all in all he made jojo’s life miserable by pursuing her ceaselessly in front of everybody at school even tho he knows for a fact that jojo is bullied and ostracised.

the story’s surprisingly not so bad. in particular the little kid’s acting is really great, she nailed all of her scenes. her scenes were always so on point
let’s talk abt dodal’s reunion (and subsequently, HJP’s loss of chance to shine) in ep 13. imho it was SO bad and forced.
i can’t help but compare it to reply 1988; that episode where dukseon was stood up by her date, and junghwan went to her but when he arrived, taek was already there and he lost his chance (for good this time). bc i feel like these two scenes are quite similar: luck and fate were at play.
in reply 1988’s case, i felt it was much better written — even after knowing that dukseon was stood up, junghwan still hesitated. he thought too long about whether he should go to her. when he was finally driving to where dukseon was, he kept getting stopped by red lights — so when he finally arrived at the place, taek was already there. it was later insinuated that once taek found out that dukseon was alone, he didn’t hesitate for a bit; he immediately canceled his match (which he never did!!!) and went straight to her. in the end, what made taek successful was his unwavering conviction and his certainty to pursue what he wanted, while junghwan was just a step too late bc he kept hesitating (even from the beginning). i believe it was made clear to us in the series.
as for start up... it’s just a mess. dodal met thanks to fate, and i can accept that since it’s a recurring theme in kdramas. they separated organically, bc NDS was sent to SF to work and dalmi didn’t want to continue their messy relationship. but their reunion? mess. dalmi who was supposed to be a competent CEO who made her way to success in just 3 years, just HAD TO royally fuck up a mega important project JUST RIGHT when NDS was home? youre telling me HJP HAD TO say to her just a few episodes ago that he wanted to be someone she could rely on, and she was ABOUT TO call him and finally start to rely on him (a competent, experienced man who was in this business longer than dalmi was), just when she was about to click CALL, NDS called her first instead? this isn’t fate or some sort of misfortune brought by the character’s hesitance, it’s just a sick sadistic play made to toy with the audience’s hearts. dodal’s relationship felt extremely shallow bc what brought them together time and time again was just a ridiculously perfectly timed occurrence. the writer made it so, hence why it happened.
anyways start up would be SO MUCH better if HJP never fell in love with dalmi and just sees her in a platonic love kind of way bc this love triangle is ruining all the enjoyment. dodal’s relationship would have much better depth if the writers stopped giving so much spotlight to HJP and his relationship to dalmi and instead took time to build up NDS’s character and paint him in a better light so we can fucking understand what made dalmi like him in the first place (mind you, she was EXTREMELY PICKY, and only fell in love with NDS bc she thought NDS was the one who sent her letters)
it’s a unique kdrama with stunning visuals. awesome acting especially by oh jung se. seo ye ji is GORGEOUS in this. gangtae and sangtae’s background was very well written, and i love their relationship a lot.
i personally think it’s nothing groundbreaking or anything... the mum subplot was terrible. it’s got some heartwarming moments, but it doesn’t make me want to revisit this drama again and again. maybe it’s just not my cup of tea.
