Yes, probably. I think the story itself is pretty average for a revenge-plot cdrama and the reveals are predictable but a show can still be watchable and enjoyable despite being average. Unfortunately this one just wasn't one of those for me.

That's so funny, because I hadn't even realized all the episodes had come out. Only 30??? I feel like they could have easily flushed out more of the characters and story and still kept it under 40 eps. I thought there was going to be 10-15 left after episode 25, but now I almost feel like I may as well finish it since I'm 80% through the show anyway. Maybe I'll trudge through while I wait for Against the Current episodes to drop. Although I fear that comparison might make SOTB look even worse.

This drama is unfortunately suffering from some absolutely crazy pacing issues. Not sure if a lot had to be cut to save time but we are all over the place in terms of events and the editing feels like a vertical drama. Chunzhi falls deeply and madly in love with the FL after meeting her one time, the audience and the characters have zero time to grieve for the eldest brother before a new antagonist is thrown at us, the eldest sister elopes and Qingyuan immediately gets engaged to Chunzhi, and Qingyuan and Shen Run are married for all of 10 minutes before they send away his brother and her friend, then "kill" Shen Run off. (I have to assume it's meant to be a surprise that he's not actually dead but I will never know because unfortunately episode 25 was such a mess that I've decided it's not worth my time to finish it anymore.) I genuinely thought I'd missed an episode somehow. If you are able to enjoy this drama, more power to you. Would like to know some other thoughts because I'm baffled the MDL rating is as high as it is.
