i initially didn't agree with the comments saying that the mains have no chemistry but that hug near the end of ep 10 had me burst out laughing at how awkward that looked 😭 it's like the writers suddenly remembered that they should probably throw in some crumbs of their relationship after completely ignoring them once they got together.
On Law and the City Aug 2, 2025
damn idk if it's because i binged the first 8 eps in one go and this my first weekly ep that i caught, but ep 9 bored me a little 😭 so far i think the show has done a good job balancing the romance with the rest of the story, but damn i found myself snoozing and skipping around more than usual lol like huiji and juhyeong took an absolute backseat after they got together but it has only been a week so i'll give the show some grace.

i didn't mean to sound passive aggressive or anything, just giving some closing thoughts that my opinion on this scene is limited to what i said in my initial comment. i'd love to have a deeper discussion if i did have more thoughts but i really don't think much else about this scene in particular lol. one thing i will say is that your take on this being purely fanservice is probably more realistic in terms of netflix writing, but i can't help but want to believe that there's more meaning in the media i choose to watch haha 😭

well, honestly, i don't really see the need to provide any further explanation beyond what i've already said. you've given your take and i've given mine, they're different and that's okay. that's enough for me in terms of discussion 🤷🏻‍♀️ :)

like i said, we can agree to disagree, meaning that you can have your opinion and i can have mine. there's no right or wrong way to consume or interpret media, and i was just giving my take on a controversial scene. it's okay if you're not convinced by my interpretation, that wasn't my intention anyway, but i'm sorry if it seemed like i was pushing my opinion on you 😅. i didn't really enjoy the show as a whole anyway, so by all means i can understand any criticism on the writing.

lol based on the premise and the supernatural themes, i don't think this show is supposed to be that rooted in reality in the first place. storytelling-wise the scene was definitely a jump, but considering that he was having a vision in the middle of doing it, that was just how i interpreted what the writers were trying to do, whether or not there was also intent to sprinkle in some fanservice (which i can definitely see them doing btw, so you do have a point there). his mind was quite literally all over the place. but we can agree to disagree i guess.
On A Killer Paradox Feb 11, 2024
i was expecting something like seriously graphic for that one scene everyone is talking about but honestly it didn't seem all too out of the norm for something that is rated 18+. i also don't think the scene was as unnecessary as people are claiming it to be. the point was made by the vision of the man he killed asking him how he has the gall to pleasure himself after what he just did. he was distracting himself and disconnecting from reality. could they have made this point in a different way? sure. but this is also supposed to be a disturbing type of show, and i think the creators knew this would probably entice some big reactions from the audience lol. however, i do think that there should be content warnings for those who don't want to watch shows with sexual themes.

Title A Killer Paradox Spoiler
i actually quite liked the first episode, even if there isn't much action for the most part. it gave backstory to how tang isn't right in the head even before he starts killing people. for one, they established that he feels lost and very bored. as he said himself, he feels as though his life is missing something 'spectacular'. the fact that he was reminiscing about his high school days despite being bullied goes to show that he feels particularly empty without some form of action in his life. there's also the lack of remorse after he cheated on his then-gf, or the time he stole from his friend, resulting in this complex where he believes he can get away with anything. obviously those things by themselves doesn't make someone a killer-to-be, but at the very least you can tell that he isn't a good person even before the events of episode 1.

Title Dali & Cocky Prince Spoiler
i started watching this because it's been described as a light and fluffy rom com but i don't think those are the right words to describe this show. i'm halfway through and i think i've felt more stressed than refreshed while watching this show.

dali's situation is incredibly depressing, without even a mere attempt to mask it through comedy. there are some comedic scenes, but they don't apply to this part of the story which plays out like a classic rich heiress in the dumps scenario. it's like almost everyone is out to get her in some way, and she's stuck trying to pay someone else's debts she can't afford. there have barely been any moves to improve her situation at this point, and quite frankly it just seems to get keep getting worse.

i want to pull through because i love both of the lead actors but idk man something just isn't clicking for me.

Title Wedding Impossible Spoiler
Who does FL end up with? Ji Han or Do Han?
ji han! do han isn't really an option, as you'll find out if you either read the webtoon or watch the show when it comes out lol.
On Wedding Impossible Jan 25, 2024
i read the webtoon a while ago. it admittedly wasn't the most memorable story ever, at least to me anyway, but the main couple were pretty funny and sweet together. excited to see it in live action, perhaps that's the oompth that the story needed in the end. i really liked moon sang min in duty after school, so i'm excited see him in a leading role.

from what i remember the premise isn't as convoluted as the description makes it seem. definitely feel like they could have found a better way to word it lol.
On Love Next Door Jan 25, 2024
both of the leads are great actors, so this is a dream pairing. also, as others have mentioned, it would be nice to see jung hae in in something that isn't a melodrama.
On King the Land Jan 25, 2024
i remember seeing all the hype about this show on tik tok and telling myself to watch it but never ended up getting around to it. this was also airing when i was going through my little cdrama phase (wifty and hidden love summer of 2023, you will be missed 😭) so i guess that was part of it. i think i'll give this a try now and see how it goes.
On Destined with You Jan 22, 2024
i started this back when it aired, then fell behind and dropped it after seeing all the complaints about it. i recently picked it back up again , and honestly i don't think it was that bad. the second half is when things really picked up, both in terms of the romance and the plot. if i had to give a reason to watch this, it would be for the leads. they somehow made the otherwise unfavorable circumstances that led them together a null point because their chemistry was just that good. did they make some dumb decisions for plot reasons? sure. but i'm a romance girlie through and through, and they were feeding me well here so i didn't really care lmao.

The only one that had a purpose was the one that became a dog. And that was just in the start so he had a reason…
now that i think about it, you're right about the serial killer plot line being the driving force of the show.

i guess i was just nitpicky with this part of the story in particular because i'm tired of this same formula that recent romance kdramas have been giving lately. i love a good mystery but i hate it even more when they're not written well. while there were some interesting elements, like the red notebooks and the retro style flashbacks they used for investigative scenes in the past, as a whole it didn't piece together well.

being good at writing romance doesn't automatically mean you can write a good murder mystery, and it takes an insanely talented writer to be good at both AND balance them well. it seems like kdrama writers as of late think they belong in the latter camp when they unfortunately don't 🤷🏻‍♀️
On My Man Is Cupid Jan 20, 2024
sang hyuk's roommates were so annoying to the point that i can't tell if they were really supposed to serve as comedic relief. they were all just insolent man-children who took up space. on the other hand, the detective's coworkers/partners were actually pretty funny but i couldn't stand the guy so i ended up skipping a lot of their scenes.

anyways, i really think this show should have stuck to the fantasy rom-com genre instead of trying to mix it with a murder mystery. there were quite a few comedic scenes that were pretty entertaining and the romance was fun, but both of these elements got bogged down by the past lives arc and the serial killer plot line. they should have chosen only one of the latter because neither ended up being developed properly.

though i do understand the complaints since i was in the same boat while trying to watch this when it first came out, i tried it again now and i absolutely loved it. unless you really like the genre, i feel like you have to be in the right mood to watch a slice of life show, and this was no exception. the heart of this show isn't any conflict or drama, but rather the characters and their relationships with one another. i actually think the main couple had a lot of chemistry, and watching them grow closer throughout the show was such a treat. definitely a 9/10 for me.

i not started yet, but a 'healing' show can't let the evil characters or miss understandings win for a long time.…
honestly, i hope you're right about the first part. i also started this because i like the main cast, but if they drag this conflict out any longer and the assistant lady still doesn't face any repercussions then i guess i need to accept defeat and admit this one wasn't for me... and also find something else to watch soon 😅.
On Welcome to Samdal-ri Dec 21, 2023
watched the first 6 episodes and feel meh about it. the only thing i definitively like is the cinematography and setting. genuinely such a beautifully shot drama. the plot and characters, however, are not really clicking with me. this is supposed to be a 'healing' show, and while i don't doubt that's what it could be for some people, all it does for me is raise my blood pressure out of frustration, ironically enough. i think i'll watch episodes 7-8, and if i still don't feel too great halfway through the show, then i'll drop it.
