I know, I understand what you mean, but... there is a lot of censorship, and limitations in the script due to these censors. Given these circumstances, I don't feel like there are any significant loose ends, (there is always something left unseen in these dramas), and since it is not the most important thing, I can overlook it. And, here, we kind of know almost for sure what happened to each character.
Spoilers please. 1. Which episode do they get together. (I don't know how to explain this, there's a kiss in the middle of the drama. But they interact so deeply and charmingly, I feel this chemistry between them from the beginning). 2. Any breakups (Which episode and when do they get back together). There are arguments, there's a request for love, but no separation. 3. Any love triangle. None. 4. Is it a happy ending (The ending is like in the book, implied. When she gets her to say how much she loves him, the curse happens, because she couldn't say it. And... (like in the book, ... she promises she'll come back to him). But in the drama, they were crueler to us and didn't show the reunion, unlike the anime and the book. Although in the anime and the book (I never saw her say I love you. But in the drama she says it to him). 5. I am sucker for romance is this a true romance. Yes, it's a true romance, but it's slow, and some people don't like that. But I like it, and they managed to convince us of their love for each other, because there's a lot of chemistry.) 6. Are there good kissing scenes. (there are some scenes between them, and there are two kisses.) Tell me something good you think i will be curious about while watching. (I think the strength of this drama is the interpretation of this line: One thought, I become a devil: or one thought, I become a god). They interpreted it very well. And TY's greatest demonstration of love for Yz is that he never gives up on him (that he will not turn to evil). And YZ's demonstration of TY is that he fights for the good in his own heart. If you're looking for a mature storyline in a xianxia, this is definitely it. And I mean like, mature thinking, characters, and plot. Not one that's filled with impulsive decisions and young blood. The cast also has solid acting. ML is a little gray, while the FL is such a bad*ss!!!! Kind, but also wise. At first I thought she was too much of a saint and would be naive and gullible. She may be very empathetic but boy can she seriously kick*ss and doesn't put up with bs. She's also really smart and observant! Definitely one of my favorite FLs of all time. Loved the ML's cunningness too. Both leading actors carried their roles so well. It's a slowpaced xianxia, but definitely filled with layers. It's far from boring to me and I enjoyed every episode so much. I liked the envoy who came to invite YZ to immortality, to be a god. I totally agreed with that. (But I remembered that there is a dialogue from the trailer that doesn't exist in the drama, it was cut. TY's voice saying to YZ (I am the moon, you are the sun, forever together in the sky). It made me think that the two of them would be gods in the end and together. (But I think that although the drama didn't show it, it will happen.) There are many elements in the drama showing that YZ was destined to be a god.
The propaganda for this drama was poorly done in China, always saying it was a middle-aged drama. And always saying that the makeup and costumes were bad. Even now, they still say: it's a retirement drama. But little by little, China is discovering and appreciating this drama. The rating on Douban that started at 6.7 quickly rose to 6.9. And it has already reached 600 million views. So, given the unfavorable circumstances in which they placed the drama, I think it did very well. And it even managed to reach 7000 hot ratings. So, it's doing reasonably well, as they say, it seems to me that it is a long-tail drama in China, little by little being discovered by the audience. PS: There is a new drama by Liu Xue Yi about to be broadcast, the long-awaited xianxia "Love Never Fails" that was already filmed 4 years ago, and had to be re-filmed due to tax issues with the lead actress. (That's my next journey into the realm of xianxia fantasy.)
