I just watched episode 40. And I liked the episode.
At the beginning of the episode Luo Zi Shang, he calls Jiang He his father (and I thought that would not happen). Jiang He stabs himself and at that moment Luo Zi Shang disarms himself and calls him Father. And he reveals a secret, that he didn't burn down his mother's house when he was a kid, it was an accident. In flashback it shows, as a child, him running around the house (probably when he was trapped in the room) and trips over a candle that sets a curtain on fire. And he even says that if he could, he would change places with his mother, so that she could live. (At that moment I cried. Here the boy Luo Zi Shang in the adult Luo Zi Shang who reveals himself, he disarms himself and dies calling his father father 3 times, and dies with his head resting on his father's shoulders, who dies afterwards speaking his beloved, mother of Luo Zi Shang that the 3 could now be together (in the next life).
Another moment that brought me to tears was when Gu Jiu Si's mother arrived at Jiang He's mini funeral and Gu Jiu Si received a letter, which Jiang He addressed to her before he died. Gu Jiu Si, Ye Shian, with their red officer clothes and Yu Ru giving their selfless speeches to convince Gao Lang and they succeed. The actor who played Gao Lang is a great actor, his performance is perfect. There is the scene of Zhou Ye thinking about his beloved who passed away and him deciding he will never marry. And already choosing who would replace him in the succession of the kingdom, For Gao Lang handed over the kingdom to Zhou Ye for him to serve him in his role as general. And Ye Yun tells his brother that he needs to get married, and he makes excuses. That moment with the three of them was the comic relief of the episode. And it was very sweet, this scene ends with the 3 laughing.
The final episode ends with Zhou Ye in his full dress uniform walking down the red carpet in his inauguration as Emperor. He climbs the king's dais with his imperial gaze. Everyone looks at him happily, bows and says the etiquette of kings. Gu Jiu Si, Yu Ru, Ye Shian, everyone there. And it shows the whole kingdom from on high. That was the end.
PS: My only downside is that I wish the actor who played Luo Zi Shang's father would make the scene more impactful, but...it was good enough. So it worked for their beautiful tragic scene.
