They made some adjustments to the characters (which in my opinion improved). The only episode I found a little boring was (the one that shows them in extreme misery). I strived for that, it's a personal feeling. But I know that these scenes are necessary for the story, and in some ways educational, and bring more meaningful content to the story.

He tells her that in his pond there are many beautiful pebbles and that he is going to pick them up and give them to her. She accepts but informs him that she is leaving the next day. He asks in surprise where she is going. She replies that she is going with her mother to live in Yangzhou. He asks angrily if she'll forget about him after she leaves. She says she will come back again to visit her grandfather. He questions that it could take years for her to come back again. Then, she (again) asks his name. She says that if he says his name then she won't forget about him. He says he really can't tell her his name. Then he has a brilliant idea: that with the colored pebbles he will give her, as a keepsake, so she will never forget about him. You will remember me forever. He says smiling: So I'll collect the pebbles today. He tells her to meet again the next day, near this tree. And he will give her all beautiful stones. He asks if she would like it. She happily says yes and it's a deal. He signs the deal. She tells them to take the pinky oath, and they put their fingers together smiling. (Fingers crossed and thumbs together). They leave along the pier and Gu Jiu Si comments that her servant said that Yu ru as a child liked to play with small animals and climb walls. He covers her with a beautiful pink cape, closes the noose around her neck, while her handmaiden watches the enchanted scene. His friends watch everything filled with boxes of gifts that Gu Jiu Si bought for his wife, but Gu Jiu Si calls Munan to accompany his friends who playfully retort that they didn't even know that Gu Jiu Si still considered them friends. Yu Ru laughs and Gu Jiu Si asks what she wants to do this birthday. She says that for years she wanted to learn to ride a horse. She said that since she was a child, she envied boys who knew how to ride a horse. Gu Jiu Si replies that this wish is very easy to fulfill. And then a classic scene from oriental romantic dramas (the guy carries the girl on his back) and poignant music begins to play. The two laugh and look at each other excitedly.
Gu Jiu Si takes her to learn to ride a horse. He gives her the basic instructions, but she freaks out and asks to get off her horse. The soldiers, some with horses, and all with torches, stand at the door of the Gu family mansion, with Wang Rong, the governor's son, at the head. The foreman, protector of the Gu family, is at the front of the house, on the stairs and watches Wang Rong's arrogant words ordering them to leave the house. Gu langhua introduces himself and hears Wang Rong order him to confess his guilt. Gu Langhua retorts that every year the family's business has been done within the law and they have never forged fees. And he asks: What guilt would Wang Rong be talking about? Wang Rong says that he is making a fool of himself as he knows that Lord Liang colluded with Jiang He. And that the Gu family secretly provided them with military supplies, and that makes the Gu family traitors as well. Gu says that this offense against him is huge and that Rong needs to provide him with evidence. Rong says that the evidence will be found inside the Gu family mansion. Langhua soldiers present their swords. For a moment Rong is stunned and says he is doing this because he is really guilty. But the father says that he is not guilty and that the Wang family's boundless ambition is known by all. And that in the city of Yangzhou, this family was burdened with taxes and obtained ill-gotten gains. That they covet the Gu family's possessions. And who also demoted his brother-in-law to be able to rob the Gu family as if he were serving the imperial court. Wang Rong gets angry and yells how dare he say that. The soldiers enter, breaking down the door and the command is heard: “Do not let anyone escape alive.” Yu Ru's father arrives and thinks he'll settle everything with the soldiers, but the soldier stabs him with a sword and dies instantly. The second wife and servants scream in fright. Yu Ru's mother is leaving with the maid towards the secret passage, when the second wife arrives with the maids begging on her knees to let her go with them and show her the secret passage. Yu Ru's mother, seeing everyone cry and even a child, Yu Ru has compassion for them and takes them along. They keep running in a hurry and the soldiers close behind. Yu Ru's mother's servant, whose name is Yun, when they see the soldiers approaching, locks herself inside putting herself as a delay to the soldiers and dies when she is hit by a soldier's sword. But the others of them manage to escape.
Then that revered lady, the grandfather of the Ye family, who once fought in a war, now again, even with white hair, takes up her sword and calls the soldiers to defend the family. She asks her granddaughter to stay inside the room and not come out.
(Back to the protagonist couple):
They are happy and Yu Ru says: It's okay. My birthday is over now. And she asks them to go check Gu Jiu Si's entrance exam result. He accepts and says that it is no longer possible to escape knowing this result. Gu Jiu Si's two friends arrive terrified. They take Gu Jiu Si aside to talk. They warn that the Gu family home is surrounded by Wang Rong's soldiers. Gu Jiu Si gets angry and says that Rong is scum. He decides to return home and asks one of his friends to stay there in the field and wait. And asks his friend not to let Yu Ru suspect what is going on. And that he didn't come back in 2 hours that the friend took her to hide in his house. He asks the other friend to go to his own family and leave Yangzhou City quickly. Gu Jiu Si explains that it is very serious that after Governor Wang captures his family, he will go after the other aristocratic and wealthy families. Liu Yu Ru listens to the lame explanation from Chen Xun, one of Gu Jiu Si's friends. At that moment Luo Zi Shang's subordinate arrives and addresses her as Boss Liu and informs her that his master wants to talk to her. Chen Xun asks her who this guy in black is. And she makes the excuse that she did business with his master. At first, she tells Luo's subordinate that she is busy and that another day they will talk about business. But the boy says that she should read the letter sent by Luo first. She reads the letter and changes her expression and immediately changes her mind and tells Chen Xun that there is urgent business she needs to resolve with Mr Luo. And for him to stay there for when Jiu si returned to inform him that she would be right back after finishing the conversation. She does not accept Chen Xun's offer to accompany her saying that secret business information is involved. And that Jiu Si knows that. Life is unpredictable. She claims that in the future they both need each other's help. Then he looks at her steadily and calmly and asks if she would leave Yangzhou together with him, as she is talented and resourceful. But staying with Gu Jiu Si would be a waste of your acumen. The two looked at each other with steady gazes for a moment and then she ran off. He continued standing on the pier with a pensive look and a little distressed watching her go running in the distance. And irritation appeared on the face of LZS.

Munan comes running in and tells Liu Yu Ru that she's already running in the field and says that Gu Jiu Si asked her to meet her at the dock. He asks if Gu Jiu Si has already boarded the boat.
