the trial in the 3rd episode gave off very strong 'ace attorney at its most absurd /pos' vibes, i love it! the main actors have such an amazing chemistry, it's very fun to watch them interact with each other and with others as well.
also, do we even trust haruto's confession?? it seems like he's genuinely crushing on ryoma, but then again, he's supposed to be good at acting, and we have no idea where he even comes from... i assumed that the whole seduction plan was just that, a plan (that would inevitably get tangled with Messy Feelings later on) to get some kind of protection or insider information maybe? but now i'm not so sure lol

I know it's not supposed to be taken seriously... however, the fact that they make Ryoma to be this very accomplished…
I think it's overdramatized for comedy and as a plot device, but I also think it makes total sense for someone like Ryoma (within the show's logic), who sees himself as this perfect human being, who definitely can't be just toyed with and used like that /s. I mean, when he learns that his car was stolen, he prefers to shrug it off as "Well, it had a coffee stain anyway, so I'll just buy a new one" rather to acknowledge that he (from his perspective) was too clumsy and let some random pretty boy steal his car (although, I'm not sure if he suspects that it was Haruto at that point, but you get the idea). Same with the blackmailing, I think, Ryoma has too much pride to let anyone know, that something as ridiculous as this could ever happen to him, the Guardian of the Law. Plus, he's already too charmed with Haruto to think straight (ha), that's what gay awakening can do to people I guess, lol.
I'm not sure if you saw the second episode, so vague spoilers ahead, if you haven't,
but it becomes very clear from there that Ryoma can easily overlook Haruto's crimes, if he can benefit from them. I think, it kind of cements how obsessed Ryoma is with his image as the best lawyer ever, and how easily it can blind him.

(Sorry, if this was an overly long and unwelcome reply, I just like to yap about this show too much, lol)

just finished ep2 and it's so good. i adore ryoma and his inability to acknowledge his own feelings, which leads into massive amounts of projection onto his plant kids. can't wait to see how haruto will slowly change that!
haruto is so charming, i love how he oozes sweetness that feels off, but you can't be sure why or how. i really wanted to see him in action, but considering this episode was more about setting them as partners, i don't mind that they've mostly skipped the scene where he gets the needed info. i hope we'll see more of him doing his job in the future episodes though.
the chemistry and the dynamic is so good! i like the trope of someone forcibly making you deal with your own desires, but it has to be done in a very specific way to work for me. and this show (so far) has been just the right amount of absurd and comedic, so that a lot of things, that i'd be uncomfortable with in other media, are actually enjoyable here.
(also that biting the poisonous fruit aka haruto scene was delicious)

i really wanted to like it, but the first episode felt too slow. i get that it's supposed to set the vibe, but to me everything felt so predictable and boring... i really like the premise though, so i'll be waiting for the next episode. hopefully they'll pick up the pace a little

i was a little worried when i'd learned that it's more romcom than suspense, but the first episode was actually so good. it's very dynamic and funny, the two main characters are insane and i love them for that.
the flashforward at the start was Delicious, i'm super excited to see how ryoma and haruto's dynamic will evolve to that point.
the op is also great, and the chemistry is chemistrying, can't wait for the next episode!

I love how mature and down to earth this feels so far. I was a bit worried that I won't vibe with it, when I first heard it's an age gap romance, but considering they're both actual adults and how grounded and gentle their relationship feels, this show has very high chances of becoming my favourite QL from Japan this year! The visuals are also amazing, seeing the screenshots from the first episode was what made me want to give this a chance, and all the episodes so far are so delicious visually

Title I Hear the Sunspot Spoiler
i haven't read the manga, but as out of spite (/j) maya's defender, i really hope they'll do her justice in the future episodes, she has so much potential!
i love how the characters feel very human. like kohei's egoistic desire to keep taichi all to himself and outright petty attempts to drive away that girl at the dinner, or taichi's bursts of anger and violence (even if justified) in the earlier episodes, their jealousy. the show has treated all of these with a lot of empathy so far imo, and i hope we'll see the same with maya

Title Playboyy
all the trash talk made me curious, so i've finally watched the first two episodes. and i love it so far, it's such a weird mess of everything, so over the top sometimes, so unhinged, it makes me uncomfortable, it makes me laugh, it makes me go 'oh, what a pretty composition/lighting/reference!' and i'm here for it.
it's fun to see a different approach to sex scenes (i'd say a variety of approaches, really), even if it's silly and makes me cringe most of the time.
i really like the artsy visual style they've built for zouey and teena especially (even the japanese voiceover is growing on me as a choice, just wish it'd be mixed? better), i'm interested to see if they'll keep it or if it'll become more grounded once teena turns from a muse and an object to an actual human being in zouey eyes'. i wish other characters had more 'experimental', or maybe just more clearly defined styles as well when it comes to their sexual expression.. or maybe i've just missed it, idk, some of them are just boring to watch, even if they try to say something about the characters.
i like the inclusion of various kinks, even if it's done in a clumsy, potentially dangerous way, i think it's pretty accurate to the characters and (sadly) the level of knowledge about how to do (kinky) sex safely that a lot of people irl have. playboyy definitely isn't a show you're supposed to use as educational material, nor does it promote itself in this way. still could've handled it better so far, though.
maybe it's just because i'm kinda of on the ace spectrum, but i find it weird how people complain about sex scenes being unappealing. i don't think the majority of them were created (in playboyy) to be perceived as sensual or attractive in the first place. sometimes sex is a tool, sometimes sex is stupid and dangerous, sometimes it involves kinks that we're personally uncomfortable with, and sometimes sex is all about trying to find your missing brother (allegedly), and that's okay (for a mystery tv show, don't do something dangerous without proper research at home). as for romance, well, it's a messy show /pos, so i don't think you should expect much fluff either (i'll be so disappointed if it ends in typical bl fashion, i crave violence and more messiness, please!).
i like zouey and first's characters the most so far, because sensory issues and weird relationship with physicality, hello, that's me, and i also was once that isolated queer kinky teen, who did a lot of stupid, risky stuff, so i feel like i can relate to first in that. i'm interested to see how they will grow (or won't, who knows) over the season.
i find it hard to analyze acting. it didn't amaze me, but it didn't throw me off either, so there's that.
overall, i just want more polish and coherency from the show, because some choices feel 'genuine', while others feel like satire aimed at typical bl tropes, and sometimes they mix in a weird way (maybe that's the appeal though lol). the plot and dynamics between characters are interesting enough so far, the main themes have been laid out, so i'm curious to see how the show'll continue.
