They really did too damn much if they were gonna have him come back alive in the end lmao. His mom showing up all in black being like “he’s never coming back here again”, talking about him in the past-tense, and giving Rara the teacup back while crying her eyes out? I was so mad I literally shut off the tv for 5 minutes and looked at spoilers before I finished the ep.
Did I love this ending? No, not really. Writer should’ve either committed to killing him, or not “kill” him at all. The fake death was a pretty poor plot decision, especially if they weren’t going to leave time for a proper explanation. I will not lie though, I’m easy, because despite the poor execution, as soon as Jun walked into LaLa Land I had the biggest smile on my face until the credits rolled.
Now this won’t be a popular opinion, but although I wish the ending had been done differently, this is still near the top of my faves list for this year. I looked forward to it every week, it made me happy every week, I loved the characters and the relationships between them (for me, the jun/rara couple was maybe my favourite of the year), and the general world that the show created. Was it a flawless drama? Of course not. Like a lot of people, there were some choices in the final 4 episodes I really did not care for, but I can honestly say I enjoyed every single episode as a whole, even the much-hated episode 14 (I actually really liked that one a lot lol), and I’ll miss seeing these characters every week.
