I think I'm like the only person who likes Mizuki lol. Not that I want Sakae to end up with Mizuki, but he just makes the show more entertaining to me. I was going to drop this, but Mizuki came in and at least made things more interesting (to me). I think the actors playing Sakae and Mizuki naturally have better chemistry but that's not to shade Soga's actor at all. For some reason, I just don't really like Soga 😭
I was only hearing positive things about this one so I was surprised and a little relieved that I see some criticisms about it. I'm on episode 4 and I'm just so bored. I really want to like it too. 😭 😭😭 It's crazy that I've become so jaded with sex scenes that I'm now bored of them. And not to be that person but if you are going to do A/B/O verse, why are you only doing alphas and not even mentioning omegas when I hear that they are in the novel? that's so weird and kind of defends the purpose of an omegaverse series (for me).
I don't really know their age in the show but that's not too much because they were at the same time in their…
yeah that sounds right. I noticed their uniforms too. I was curious because 4-5 years isn't that big of a gap so I wondering why it had to be tagged. thanks!
I actually didn't mind the first episode and I'm usually pretty picky with MAME shows. Please let this be the first MAME show that doesn't have SA as a plot device!
Am I going insane? Shin turned 18 in the first season. They literally had a birthday party for him. So why are they still saying he is 17? Does someone know? Wasn't him turning 18 and going to university the reason why Minato acted on his feelings? I actually like that Minato wants to take it slow between them; I just wished that he didn't make Shin unsure in their relationship.
hmm I personally feel like she just romanticizes it. Many of the SA situations in her books/series are very romantic…
I get your point and respect you but the examples you have are not strong. ANYONE can commit murder, commit crime, or fall in love no matter what race, sexuality, gender orientation, body size etc. (Horror also a fictional genre - ghosts, demons and so on aren't real). So anyone can write about those genres but representation is something that can't be written by everyone. I think I'm passionate about this in particular with the Asian BL industry because gay individuals who audition for these roles aren't picked because they're gay or queer individuals cannot get their novels published even though the industry profits off of their experiences. I think I should make it clear, I'm not saying that straight people can't write gay characters at all because having variety in character identities is very important in order for gay individuals, for example, be normalized in society. But writing about having the character come out or trauma that they faced as a gay person (like Homophobia) is where I have the problem. Your point about Tharntype is spot on and I'm happy we can agree on something.

I get that I really do, but to me its kind of like a cis man writing a story about how difficult it is to be a woman. While he might have the best intentions he will never experience what it is like to have periods, sexism, or how unsafe it is to be a woman. A straight individual will never know the difficulties of coming out or experience the stigma queer individuals receive . I personally wouldn't want someone writing my struggles for me. My point is we could of had these stories told from someone who actually experiences them. Not to you personally, but I feel like I having this conversation in wrong place where people don't necessarily care about representation lol.

You can of course like her work. I really hate it (coming from someone who liked LBC when it came out). I personally don't find it brave to write traumatic plots to characters especially if you are not consistent with how you portray it. Also, gay individuals can have happy consensual relationships and it be realistic. Sadly, unhappy endings that you hate so much are the most realistic end to a gay relationship especially somewhere like Thailand, Japan, or god forbid China. Also, unfortunately she is not unique in ANY WAY. Sexual assault and harmful stereotypes have been in BL media forever from Japanese BL manga to Thai Bl novels. I have been digesting BL media for a loooooong time and happy "fluff" that you tend to hate is actually refreshing for me. I kind of tired seeing LGBTQIA+ individuals suffer and I want to see them happy (coming from someone who is a part of the community). I actually don't have any major problems with this show, it's her other shows (LBC, TTTS) and how people are defending her that are way worse. I'm sorry if I sound like I'm attacking you, but what you said kind of hit a chord with me.

I like queer men (or queer individuals) writing queer stories but unfortunately that doesn't happen that often. I don't really know what your point is. For example, The Eclipse's director is nonbinary and that's awesome (not trying to bring the eclipse into the convo like other people are doing). I'm okay with queer women writing queer stories, I don't want to assume Mame's sexuality in anyway but as far as I'm aware she hasn't been open about that. My statement with women writing queer men was more of a general statement referring to BL and the LGBT community in the book publishing industry.
Y'all I have to say, Mame has been through it. I just want to find her and ask, "who hurt you???". All of her…
hmm I personally feel like she just romanticizes it. Many of the SA situations in her books/series are very romantic even Love by Chance having it played for comedy. I think if she had dealt with this trauma herself then she would handle it with much more care and be consistent with the tone throughout her different series. I do find it a little weird that if it's her trauma, she writes gay men going through that trauma? Maybe I just feel this way because I don't really like women writing romance with queer men. Of course if she has dealt with SA, I very much sympathize with her because no one deserves that trauma.
I should have seen the red flags (only 8 episodes, Star Hunter, SA themes) but I was too blinded by the beautiful cinematography and the OST. Does anyone else just love the OST like I do?
Some harsh comments overly exaggerating against this series FR. Coffee Melody is much better than an over hyped,…
Keep telling yourself that bud. Now if you will excuse me I'm going to watch my mob boy BL full of toxicity and abusive behaviors for the tenth time to wake up from the snooze fest.
Is Toh supposed to be cute, or quirky, or charming? Because he makes me so uncomfortable. I have nothing against "obsession/stalker" storylines because My Beautiful Man did this trope beautifully, but I think this show is kind of missing the point. Not one single character has discouraged him from this stalkerish behavior (his friends actually encourage it) and he is actually getting rewarded for being a creep. I feel like the only way the character can be redeemed (at least for me) is to have his behavior called out and then Toh reflect on his actions. I think many people are forgetting that Nuea isn't a celebrity, an idol or an influencer, he is a normal student at his university with a right to a private life without having a wall of his pictures, a bed comforter, and freaking cardboard cutout in some random person's room. I feel like the twist is going to be that Nuea is the one with a "secret crush" so it removes the uncomfortableness that Nuea would feel when he finds out about Toh's behavior. Stalking is already a crime that is not taken seriously in real life and making it comedic and romantic like this where we are supposed to sympathize with the stalker is a little distasteful to me. I know people are going to say I'm overthinking it and it's not supposed to be taken seriously - I know lol. It just hurts that an amazing show like Bad Buddy can discuss and break harmful stereotypes while a show released in the SAME YEAR like this reenforces them. It is not lost on me that the same people who are loving this show hated Bad Buddy (interesting...). Okay rant over lol
