I remember seeing bits and pieces of that drama but I never actually picked it up, the actual main issue for this one is the plot in itself, Bua and Film doesn’t seem to match with each other for this type of 2nd chance lovers trope like Pon could, I admit, I eventually did drop both TBSC and PM however I was still able to watch the beginning. I just couldn’t with this one lol.
That was honestly a really great start, the salt bandit is quite the refreshing plot we hadn’t had in a while and the leads 2nd collaboration cp, in my opinion, is a lot more explosive better than MoGA.
It looks like they’ll adapt some of the first 6 side chapters and not the rest though. Anyhow, the pilot is giving me chills + Aof’s BGM and you can totally see just how different it is than Khemjira’s pilot from back then lol.
A HE I never thought I would ever experience again after The Sixth Sense days with ghosts and mon akom (magic).
I had my qualms last year on starting Khemjira because the reincarnation plot is often written with the same outline and really, just overused in general. But then a year later the same day lol, I decided to start it one day, deleting all of my reincarnation issues and realised just why people love Khemjira so much. It’s because we hadn’t had a well adapted lakorn for a long long time.
What’s so special about a cursed family who’s child is seriously going to die before 21? The plot here isn’t simply just about a one dimensional investigation of the curse like most dramas but that it literally features, multiple layered elements of reincarnations, timelines, and characters.
The moment the curse was laid, a karmic debt was formed, throwing the leads hundreds of years into the cycle of reincarnations vs ghosts. That was precisely what I liked about the plot. The long years of suffering from everyone, and showing which and how many characters is who’s reincarnation in what time period to how it was dealt with.
The addition of an Isan Master who is Khem’s only hope really adds a different take to this usual reincarnation story incorporating their culture and everything magical far away from the city. Trust me, I’m high on those OSTs and BGM. The visuals, mor lam fair, and costumes, with the music blew me away more than the ghosts did. 🤣
I also really liked how everyone was shown parallel with the beginning episodes to the very last one where everyone can do bits and pieces of Pharan’s work so it’s not all on him or just him in general with spells and abilities in his book. They’re all collectively helping Khem and each other.
The magic, incantations, spells, even down to the holy water bowls and incenses were really fun to compare to old lakorns of back then too. They even have a real master to oversee all that for accuracy and overall really enjoyable and highly realistic from every single spell Master Pharan has ever casted on because it was THAT intense.
Not only that, the ending has got to be the best one out there among BL.
I’m really looking forward to the sequel, the animation is also coming out real soon and will be reading the book next.
