This was another sweet drama to pass the time with non-toxic leads and a fairly healthy relationship. Though I fear the 'Cold Male Lead' tag is going to mislead people- I mean the ML is literally cold, but more in the temperature sense rather than the MDL/Drama sense of the word.
Miku's brother and Eve and Eve's Sister(?- The Gallery owner) were the best and great support to Miku really helping her out and trying to help her escape the abuse. The mother was the worst.
This was a rather brave drama that dealt with themes of manipulation and control within a relationship and also how the abuser tries to manipulate people around the victim (such as her mother). Fortunately most of the show was focused on her trying to escape the situation (albeit with a lot of setbacks and great difficulty) and gain her own independence. And there were wonderful people who were willing to help her.
Just adding another positive comment for this drama. It was genuinely lovely and so refreshing to have a romance drama where neither the male lead or second male lead/rival or second female lead are mean or evil to the female lead. They were all such good people.
Seriously considering just watching this with raws and half understanding it from the visuals, the actors tone/expression/body language and my extremely rudimentary understanding of Japanese. I do wish that one day another subber picks up this show. It's a shame the original subber took it on when they already had too many projects and therefore couldn't devote the time to it. Or maybe, one day, it will be available on Prime like Mai Agare is now.
There are subtitles in many languages. You have to open the files in VLC Player. Then right click and select the 5th or 6th option under subtitles for English ones.
I like the idea of one of the producers/ casting agents at Toei watching this before casting Takeru Satoh, Yuichi Nakamura and, later, Hideo Ishiguro in Kamen Rider Den-O.
I've watched half a dozen asadoras previously and have loved all of them. But I'm having a really hard time with this one. I keep stopping and starting episodes a few weeks later. I will finish it eventually because I'm a completionist, but at the moment I'm wondering why it was so popular.
it's so annoying seeing a comment from non regular jdrama watcher 🙄 there's nothing wrong with fl for me. like…
I agree, thank you for saying this. Haruka is experiencing and learning a lot of things in life for the first time and we (the audience) are seeing her honest expressions and reactions to it all. That does not make her annoying, or cringe, or infantile (people can mature at different rates). It makes her human.
I do hope that this show eventually makes its way to international streaming. I am hopeful because it's in the 'Getsuku slot' (Monday's at 9pm on Fuji TV), and many of the previous shows which aired in that slot have been released on Netflix or Viki. https://wiki.d-addicts.com/Getsuku_(Fuji_TV)
Love how Reina went from watching Kamen Rider Den-O as a child, to acting in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid (as Nico Saiba) 9 years later, to playing Takeruh Satoh's sister in a drama (Watashi no Otto to Kekkon Shite) a further 9 years later. Hope her role as Miku Suzuki gives a great boost to her career and number of acting roles.
I remember watching Fuka in her early roles in Asa Ga Kita and GTO and playing bit parts in Gekokujo Juken and Hayako Sensei. It's amazing how much her acting career has blossomed since then.
Looks like Summer 2025 is Fuka Koshiba's big starring season. Finished watching her in Watashi no Otto to Kekkon Shitte. And now onto 19 Banme no Karte
Hope her career takes off even more after Marry My Husband (JP). She played an evil character so convincingly in that. I had a hard time believing that it was the same actress that I'd seen playing 'Good characters' in shows like Dakara Watashi was Oshimashita, Shimobee and Girl Gun Lady.
