It took forever for Sanghyuk and Baekryun to be together that once we're here, I don't even care anymore. I'm basically just sticking around to see how the drama ends.
I enjoyed the first 5 episodes but since then it's been downhill. The best parts are when ML/FL are together, but they barely had any interactions and development in the recent episodes. Boring.
Glad they didn't drag the Who is Kiho mystery for much longer. It was obviously Bogeol. I think a body (or bodies) will be found when the lake dries out. Could that connect to their current identity?
I think it’s more than just guilt, poor Ki Ho went through a traumatic experience too. He must have thought…
I agree. Bo Geol didn't have much screentime so we could only speculate this early on. I hope the drama doesn't drag the "Who is Kiho?" mystery for long.
I think it’s more than just guilt, poor Ki Ho went through a traumatic experience too. He must have thought…
That's definitely a possibility, but I interpreted Ki Ho waiting at the station every year believing that Mok Ha is still alive. Which is why I think Bo Geol is most likely Ki Ho as it seems Bo Geol often volunteers to clean up islands, perhaps in hopes of finding Mok Ha.
I don't think Woo Hak is Ki Ho. At the end of episode one, Ki Ho is shown to be waiting at Seoul Station every year at the allotted time and in episode two we learned that Woo Hak lost his memory prior to high school. He does not recognize Mok Ha when they met, so it is unlikely that Woo Hak is Ki Ho. I'm sure Bo Geol has his reasons for not revealing his identity to Mok Ha (if he is Ki Ho) and most likely he feels guilty for what happened to her. Castaway Diva is sort of giving me the same vibe as Thirty But Seventeen.
ETA: It's not surprising that Woo Hak reminded Mok Ha of Ki Ho, because if Bo Geol is indeed Ki Ho, keep in mind that Woo Hak always copied Bo Geol. It's no wonder they're similar besides being brothers.
Its a terrible scene it kind of doesn't make it better whoever did it.
I posted this in the novel spoilers discussion thread:
The perpetrator who r*ped Lei Chun is still not clarified by the author. When Lei Chun took part in the battle of suppressing BCF, he was publicly accused of r*ping her and BCF admitted it. However, according to Zhuge Shenhou (the master of the four great constables from Wen Rui'an's other novel, The Four), Lei Chun mentioned to Prime Minister Cai Jing that BCF took the blame, becoming the scapegoat and the real culprit has yet to be determined.
I keep seeing people ask for novel spoilers so I copied and pasted one of my earlier comments into a discussion post. You should just watch and go with the flow. The adaptation has already changed a lot.
That's true. Wang Xiao Shi sometime acts foolishly. But If Wang Xiao Shi was also same like his brothers, the…
It's not that I want him to be the same as his sworn brothers, but the explanation for Wang Xiaoshi's action seems to be an afterthought. Like when he saved Fu Zongshu from Guan Qi, why? Or when he disabled Guan Qi and was about to kill him for revenge, he thinks back on SMZ's word to keep Guan Qi alive in order to get the secret of Youqiao Group. The act of sparing Guan Qi was also to show that WXS is not like him (contrasted with Bai Choufei killing Guan Qi). I get that the word of WXS's master is always on his mind and his character setting is that he doesn't like to kill. There's nothing wrong with being kind and merciful, but the execution has been poor.
Yups... that's wuxia for you. The most boring dude lives to tell the tale.
I didn't read the book, only a few plot and character summaries. Personally, I try not to compare the original source with the adaptation as there's bound to be changes. For example, Guan Qi isn't exactly evil and didn't go on a killing spree nor was he locked inside a well. He's the strongest martial master. Moreover, he is Lei Chun's biological father, but the adaptation got rid of that plot line. With only 38 episodes, the drama is definitely focusing on the conflict between Sunset Drizzle House, Six Half Hall, Youqiao Group and the government (Prime Minister Cai Jing).
Just judging it on it's own merits, it's a decent wuxia. The plot isn't anything new and the fight scenes are not impressive. The transitions and editing could also be smoother. Overall, the supporting characters make it worth watching.
Hi can you trll me more about WEN ROU, why is she untouchable?
I just mean that she comes from a powerful background. Her father has a high position in the imperial court so she’s pretty much safe from everyone despite not being very good at martial arts. She’s also the junior martial sister of Su Mengzhen and the disciple of Hong Xiu Dao (Red-Sleeve Blade).
I feel like they might be relatives / long lost relatives 😆- They kept sharing liquor - and the vibe is entirely…
They're not related. In the novel, Lei Mei will betray Lei Sun and defect to Sunset Drizzle House. She stays by BCF's side, helping him plot against SMZ. However, she later betrays BCF and kills him. Lei Mei is an interesting character, betraying people left and right for her self-interest.
From their conversation in episode 12, I get the impression that they're similar and understand each other. Both are subordinates and want to rise through the ranks, doing whatever it takes to achieve their goals.
A question for anyone who knows Chinese and got info on Wen Rou and SMZ. I'm liking seeing their kind of sibling…
There's not much info, but I'd say there's no reason for their relationship to sour. After all, WR is SMZ's junior martial sister and they have the same teacher. They're on the same side and their relationship is good.
Novel spoilers from MTL-ing the characters' profile from Baidu. Please take this with a grain of salt and note that the novel is incomplete.
As Su Mengzhen's health worsened, many of Sunset Drizzle House's affairs were handled by Bai Choufei, expanding BCF's power. Succumbing to his power lust, BCF decided to kill SMZ to usurp his position. Under pretext, BCF got Wang Xiaoshi to leave the Capital. Injured and poisoned by BCF's henchman, SMZ escaped through a secret passage that led to Six Half Hall where Lei Chun saved him. At this point in the story, LC and SMZ has a love-hate relationship due to SMZ killing LC's adoptive father, Lei Sun (LC became the head of Six Half Hall). In order to manipulate SMZ for her own use, LC gave him poison, making his mind in disarray.
WXS returned to the capital and vowed to avenge SMZ. With the cooperation of SMZ and others, BCF was defeated and killed by Lei Mei (BCF held Wen Rou hostage but let her go in the end). After getting his revenge and entrusting Sunset Drizzle House to WXS, SMZ refused to be controlled by LC to do evil deeds and ordered Yang Wuxie to kill him.
Some other spoilers: - It seems like the man in the well is Lei Chun's biological father, Guan Qi. - Lei Chun gets r*ped saving Wen Rou from a r*pist. I hope they cut this part out.
I know I left some things out (there's a lot more going on and more characters involved), but you get the gist. You can search on Baidu for the book and characters' profile and use google translate.
I think that it's SMZ's ashes in the box at the opening of the first episode. Considering BCF betrayed his sworn brothers, I doubt it's him. Another possibility is that it's both SMZ and BCY's ashes. Wen Rou will most likely be alive. Due to her background, she's pretty much untouchable. No one would dare to provoke her father, Wen Wan, Lord of Luoyang aka the author himself. Of course, anything can happen with the live-action adaptation.
