Episodes 17-24 were disappointing to me, as BaiJue, now QingMu, fails to display any of his original qualities…
I didn't really like the way they ended the show either. For me, the show was basically downhill from episode 16 onwards. The chemistry between the characters was too easy between Houchi and Qingmu, and then overly difficult between Baijue and Shanggu. I didn't like the "just revenge" philosophy of many of the characters. I didn't like Qingmu's lack of individuality - he only lived for Houchi - he was an ultimate simp - no passions or friends outside of his obsession for Houchi. I didn't like Houchi randomly stealing stuff. I didn't like Baijue's unnatural coldness towards Shanggu. I didn't like how Shanggu and Baijue gave up on their son many times. I thought it was illogical that Fengran's relationship failed to develop during the time skip, and disappointing that it never developed. I thought the Queen got away with too much and didn't really get a fitting just desserts. Yuemi was the best character, and we didn't get her back after episode 16. Shanggu ditching her son for 300 years to grieve over Baijue was bad mothering. Losts of bad role modeling. Gods are supposed to be good examples to us. These gods failed in that.
I've only watched the first 13 episodes so far. Absolutely impressed with the level of intellect in the characters. The chemistry and backstory create very believable roles. For some reason the editing of episode 12 (and some on 13) was extremely bad - the music randomly cut out and then got swapped back in. Some awkward visual transitions as well. They also started adding some somewhat cheesy romantic stuff, but it's not that bad. Other than that, I am extremely impressed with Angelababy's (and the other cast member's) acting skills so far! I hope it stays as good as it has been for the rest of the series!
I felt like this drama didn't heat up until ep 38-9. Kinda dragged til then tbh.
I just finished episode 35. HouChi pushed QingMu away because "you only like ShangGu" (after risking his ass for her a million times).... Wtf. Lol. Then they are like stealing stuff because "the ends justify the means" for BoXuan? I hate it when the good guys do immoral stuff, even more so when the good guys are supposed to be Gods. Otherwise, it's been getting slightly better. I really like JingJian and FengRan as a couple. Oh, and someone needs to kick TianQi's ass for invading the private space of a married woman...
In episodes 1-16, the romance between the ShangGu and BaiJue was awkward and illogical, but cute. BaiJue seems…
That is a good point. To me, drama relationships are less satisfying when they don't make sense. I think in one way BaiJue's love for ShangGu makes a lot of sense. BaiJue had a harsh childhood with the ancestral God. ShangGu represented the childlike carefree playful happiness that he never got to experience. So she filled an emotional hole within his soul.

So, I seem to have the opposite opinion of most people here, interestingly enough. I thought episodes 3 - 16 were…
Episodes 17-24 were disappointing to me, as BaiJue, now QingMu, fails to display any of his original qualities of virtue, aloofness, self-confidence, high standards, and wisdom. He has become a troublesome stalker that resorts to unscrupulous methods to manipulate ShangGu/HouChi. He repeatedly violates her privacy, personal space, requests, and takes actions with her without her consent. He completely lost his aura of virtue, but tries to recover his reputation with unjustifiable acts of heroism, repeatedly risking his life to save HouChi despite not really knowing her. HouChi repeatedly displays a complete lack of affection or repulsion towards QingMu, so this transition was very disappointing, as two formerly impressive lovers are now very unimpressive, with a lackluster chemistry the second time around. I hope the 2nd half of this drama redeems it from this plot catastrophe.

In episodes 1-16, the romance between the ShangGu and BaiJue was awkward and illogical, but cute. BaiJue seems to have high standards - never falling for any woman, yet ShangGu, someone who isn't impressive in anyway suddenly obtains his adoration without earning it. On looks, she isn't special. On character, she is just as childish, petty, and foolish as any other goddess. But, she does develop into quite the awe inspiring heroine towards episode 16. Yet, BaiJue, originally conceived as the person who virtuously cares about all of existence more than relationships, begins to backtrack and becomes a coward when he realizes he must let ShangGu go.
So, I seem to have the opposite opinion of most people here, interestingly enough. I thought episodes 3 - 16 were very fast paced and well done. I would agree that episodes 1-2 were a bit slow, but that is not really a big deal since the show just started. Conversely, I thought that episdes 17 - 24 were slow and poorly done. I have not finished it yet, only half way.
Are BaiJue TianQi and ShangGu all siblings.... π€π§π§πΆπ¬
