Fool's gold....

before even starting this, read comments that said this was a let down & i kinda agree - the ironic part is that it was clear to the eye, that everyone brought their A game (even though there were parts where felt Seo Yea Ji was over acting). maybe cause of this, wasn't really bored throughout this drama, didn't feel like it was being dragged out or there was a ton of filler & yet i am left feeling let down...

Han So Ra, who was more or less obsessed with Kang Yoon Gyeom (her husband), was conveniently oblivious to the fact that the sec Kim Sun Bin showed up, she was making cow-eyes at Kang Yoon Gyeom?!? really???
there NO woman on this planet that is this blind - especially when someone was as direct / transparent - heck in ur face with how she was shamelessly flirting with Kang Yoon Gyeom (out in the open for anyone with eyes to see) but every character turned blind - why? cause it suited the plot-line? also IMO it was cringe & maybe men would find Kim Sun Bin's approach enthralling, to me she was very weird & a turn off.

the artistic license taken by the writer /director was illogical & absurd. but if that wasn't enough Kim Sun Bin & Kang Yoon Gyeom relationship at every stage felt bland or rather, it felt like it fell short of delivering on what it was hinting at. i get we talking 'Korean drama', so there not gonna be any hot scenes. but then find a way to make it seem like there is more that isn't shown. the cold kisses, the brotherly hugs, the distance when around each other, the lack of touch - this a steamy, secret romance?!? the forbidden fruit that would make Kang Yoon Gyeom want to abandon reason, to follow Kim Sun Bin blindly??

also i didn't get why Kang Yoon Gyeom was automatically included in the list of enemies, just cause he was related to Han So Ra & Han Pan Ro or cause he was running LY?!? i get wanting revenge against the people that did u wrong, but how were Lee Ra El / Kim Sun Bin & Jang Moon Hee any better then the main bad-guys?!? when they used & hurt the most vulnerable; Jang Bo Ram & Kang Da Bi! sorry but what was done to those girls was disgusting.

the sec Lee Ra El saw that Jang Jin Wook had a daughter (that was dependent solely on him) she should have thought of a different way to get at him & at the other bad-guys. what has she done, given this child a mother only to disappear from her life without an explanation or reason - how would that effect that (any) child. doesn't matter to her - considering how her own mother disappeared? & she worthy of a happy ending?!?
same with Kang Da Bi, that child was having a tough enough time, with a mother like Han So Ra (who was also a very traumatized individual cause of her father) but she was left with what? a mother in the mad-house, & the only parent that showed her any warmth an affection gone, so basically an orphan.

i get justifying whatever Lee Ra El / Kim Sun Bin did to get revenge, but she Not a good person & by the end i really didn't want her to succeed. heck i (ironically) ended up liking Han So Ra the most in this drama. yes she was a mean b*tch, but considering her childhood let alone her psycho of a father, it wasn't shocking how she was or why she did what she did. she wasn't justified & deserved to pay for her crimes, but her end wasn't deserved IMO - she should've gone to prison. maybe she would do time but then she could rebuild her life & be there for her daughter(s). but what we got was over kill & left a bad taste in my mouth.

also Lee Ra El broke Kang Yoon Gyeom, in the end the reason they really connected was cause they were both broken souls that were hurt & hurting. he wasn't the bad-guy & he didn't deserve to get the ending he got - Lee Ra El for sure wasn't worthy of his sacrifice. something he did out of misguided love. IMO Lee Ra El wasn't any better then Kang Yoon Gyeom parental family or the one he had married into. but she good guy that gets a happily ever after? meeh

Seo Eun Pyung was a weird character who i donno how to read, get he felt he had a debt towards Lee Tae Joon as he was sponsored by him, so he wanted to help & be there for Lee Ra El. but between wanting to help & breaking the law when he was this up-right fighter for what was "right" & good didn't fit. his blindly doing anything for Lee Ra El was a bit of a reach IMO. but i guess K-drama's love to write these type of over the top, martyr like character's - still i didn't like his character & his actions didn't fit the image he was portraying.

side note that i have to point out, idk who thought that bleaching Seo Yea Ji's eyebrows was a good idea. she looked weird cause of it & maybe that was what they were going for - her looking a bit crazy. but then there were scenes where u noticed the new growth & looked gross - as all i noticed was the black roots. but maybe it was just a me thing - anyway this a one off
