Episode 10: Well...that was agony. My eyes hurt from crying for 45 minutes.
Boom is the most naturalistic actor/weeper I have seen in Thai BL/Cinema, perhaps in all of Asia, but he never overdoes it. I see a character experiencing feelings from which the tears naturally flow. He had me by the gut thru this episode. I never see him "acting." This is a remarkable gift, and he has trained it well. It's more remarkable yet to see this level of talent and professionalism in Thai BL, of all places. Bravo.
The actress who plays Grandma is lovely and authentic as well. That loving smile made me want to be her grandson.
This is the first episode I haven't jumped forward through since #2.
I don't watch Kdramas though, so I've not seen most of his work. I wish this was something other than the I've-come-back-from-the-underworld-to-avenge-blah blah blah stuff, but because he is in it, I will give it a shot. Glad to see Netflix paying attention to SJS again.
I was attacked on Quora by crazy people who've judged and sentenced the poor lad based on nothing but fantastic…
Well said! I agree one hundred percent.
You asked "what in the world is this. "This" is the exact same, psycho/hateful/sadistic, Puritanical, maniacal Knetz/media/culture behavior that I call the Korean Celebrity Suicide Machine, which has claimed DOZENS of celebrities dead by suicide over the last 25 years.
I have been a mega-fan of Korean movies and a teeny bit of Kpop for about five years now. During that time, I became increasingly aware of, and appalled by, the number of Korean entertainers who have killed themselves over the last quarter-century, and the combined forces of Korean law enforcement/media/Knetz/Puritanical cultural attitudes that led to those deaths. It is nothing short of ghastly and nearly unbelievable.
What you encountered on Quora is the KCSM in all its bloodthirsty ugliness. These Knetz psychos would never admit it, but they LOVE when a celeb takes their own life because they think that's what they deserve. Knetz think celebrities OWE them big-time for having achieved success and stardom; and part of what they think they are owed is perfect/flawless private and professional lives. There is nothing that is not watched for any sign of human frailty, upon which the Knetz pounce like the vultures they are.
What you see on Quora is the Knetz tearing KSH apart, bits of flesh at a time, and loving every second of it. To them, it is a game, a form of entertainment; and they are bizarrely determined in their quest to kill him off.
But, for once, in KSH we have a celeb who is fighting back HARD, with his own army of lawyers who are filling lawsuits and holding press conferences to expose the crazy, mendacious antics of the Youtube weirdos and the god-awful family of Kim Sae Ron, and doing this in real time.
I am sure KSH is suffering mightily in private, but I certainly hope he holds it together and survives this, because the tragic and unfair truth is that, no matter how thoroughly all of these accusations are shown to be false, the Korean public, the entertainment industry, and production companies will almost certainly cancel him anyway.
There will never be a time when the press will stop mentioning this "scandal" before his name in headlines, even after it is all shown to be bullshit. In Korea, once you are "embroiled in scandal," it makes no difference whether there is any truth to the scandal, you are done.
The above is why the recent success of Yoo Ah In's film, The Match, both in theatres and on Netflix after his release from jail and the last two years of media and law enforcement torture, is so important. It shows a crack in the great Korean Celebrity Suicide Machine. I hope that crack keeps widening until the whole thing falls apart and Korea begins to mature away from its backward, Puritanical cultural attitudes.
Can you imagine if any of these Knetz were publicly held to the same standards they hold celebs to? lol They would all be destroyed, imprisoned, or banished from polite society. I despise them.
On edit: I was not greatly aware of KSH either, until this manufactured media feeding frenzy began. I watch almost no Kdramas, and that is the medium from which his greatest fame derives. However, I did see his 2013 film, "Secretly Greatly" about three years ago and found him and the movie hysterically funny. It is on my top 30 best films list. I have watched it three times, and I don't rewatch films unless I love them. So, despite not having seen most of his work, I've been well aware of who he is and how talented he is. I appreciate the laughter he brought into my life. :)
I know no one here probably wants to hear this, but it's a real thing so I will throw it out there anyway.
As I watched The Match, I kept thinking how puffy-faced and unhealthy Yoo looked. It is the same, swollen, unwell look he had in the Netflix series "Alive." Then, I checked the shooting schedule for this film: December 2020-July, 2021. This film is FOUR years old, which means Yoo was in the midst of his suffering from severe insomnia, and addictions to sleeping pills and Propofol. OF COURSE, he looks unwell; he WAS unwell.
I haven't seen a photo of him since his release from jail. If anyone who reads this has seen one, please post a link in reply to this comment. I would love to see him looking healthy and fresh-faced, since he has been in treatment for so long. I just tried to find one online, and was unsuccessful.
I am an alcoholic, sober 25 years now. (Yay!!) I looked like holy hell when I staggered into recovery, but within two weeks, I began to look like an entirely different person. People who saw me come in and then two or three weeks later were like, "omg, is this you?!" It was a wonderful response to get; so encouraging. I know Yoo must look like such a vigorous, glowing version of his real self by now and I'd love to see that. I wish for him a long, healthy, and happy recovery, lasting him the rest of his days. There are few more rewarding accomplishments, nor greater gifts than sobriety after a long period of addiction.
Just watched the trailer on Netflix and Yoo Ah In isn't even shown in it! It's crazy how they're trying to diminish…
I agree, the trailer is stupid and annoying, but his presence is not diminished at all in the film itself. It continues to piss me off that Netflix continues to kowtow to punitive, Puritanical notions out of Korea. This film is out to the entire world now. Who cares what a tiny minority of Knetz within the tiny country of Korea think? I don't get it.
Did you see this with your own eyes??? Or do you believe the channel that was just accused of blackmail by the…
It was not stated as an opinion, but as though it were an established fact. Calling someone a pedophile, when they have not been proven to be any such thing, is slander. It is a personal attack. I don't know why MDL has not removed the comment; it removed many other, similar ones I reported.
No, but Min Jun's lips were a welcome distraction. Heck, his whole face was.
Min Jun does have an interesting face. I didn't particularly like it at first, but as with many faces I end up finding perfectly beautiful, his grew on me with each episode. I love the shape of his nose.
EVERYTHING is wrong. this is so bad compared to blueming i can't believe they're calling it a parent story...
Blueming is my number one fave BL. I thought I was the only one...I don't even want to think about how the hell this is supposed to be a "parent story." wth? I wish they'd make an actual sequel to Blueming.

You do know YOU just "came back to the same comment thread..." to post this comment, right?
I didn't "scream," Psycho Cindy. I backed away from you quietly and slowly. it was the voice of Satan you heard screaming inside your head.
And it may surprise you to know I am interacting with other commenters in this thread, but it's true. You dont, you know, OWN the thread.
Thanks.
Oh dear. Another psycho...never mind.
