It's definitely lighter than I expected (I thought Ohm would be an actual mafia) but I think it's better to make him the reluctant first-time kidnapper because it smooths over some potential grey areas with power dynamics in their relationship AKA VegasPete. Also Min is way too much of a softie green flag to be agreeing to kidnap people as a side hustle but I'm not complaining, I do hope they explore his character more!
I too feel the same. actually u feel no chemistry between them. it looks like forced relationship unlike mudmee…
Yeah it's honestly such a shame. They still have that chemistry off screen in my opinion. I don't know if it's because people have pointed it out here but the color grading and loud audio effects are extra grating when you're trying to slog through the new episodes as well.
I'm sorry but 8 episodes in and Fourth's Atom is still not clicking with me, both the acting and the writing. I won't drop this because I love GemFourth and think their first two dramas were perfection but it's such a chore to finish these episodes I can't even enjoy the cute moments :/
I don't know if it's the writing or my preconceived notions of GemFourth coming through but I just feel like Kongthap and Atom have too much rizz. Both Ida and Aoki had like no rizz whatsoever, Ida was too oblivious and Aoki was too panicked and insecure. I'd even say their chemistry was kind of lacking in the manga when they started dating, but it took time to break through the awkwardness and learn how to deal with the other, and that's what propels the story after the initial mix up. The mix up does get resolved pretty fast, so the pacing is accurate in that regards.
But here, Atom was way too calm and composed during the scene where Kongthap was rehearsing his lines, and also during the scene with the other boys in the class after the play. I understand the characters are toned down here and I get why they did it but without such a dichotomy between the two main characters the love story just isn't as compelling and I think that's what some comments are reacting to.
That being said, it's not bad and I look forward to it! Some issues with the post-production yes, but it's an enjoyable romp and I honestly think that once the romance really starts GemFourth will hit their stride and we'll get a really cute show. It's a lot to do and lowkey kind of hard but once I put aside the ideas in my head that came from the Jdrama, manga, MSP + MLC and GeminiFourth's real life personalities it's a better viewing experience.
11 episodes in and no plot just vibes and i love it lol..phuwin is kind of doin his best performance ever or is…
no fr phuwin is eating up this baby girl role! Phum and Peem feel like they walked straight out of a manga and onto my screen. And IDK what happened here either, they did hard carry nlmg with their chemistry but this here is next level real romance people!
Have y'all experienced such an unserious serious show!! Haruta getting the marriage blues and the two of them learning to accept and grow from their differences is such a real message. Look around you - how many relationships fail because two people are just too different, and it's just too hard and messy to fight to keep that connection? Haruta and Maki are such fighters, and everyone around them can't help but to cheer for them.
And the season 1 flashback with the old Sukima Switch OST, my heart! Brought me back to 5 years ago watching Ossan's Love and being absolutely bowled over. Izumi-san is my favorite new addition, he's just such a lost puppy now without Akito. Even though I know it'll be tragic, I want a spinoff of these two!!
Anyone else laugh so hard their cheeks hurt?? I can't believe each episode is so long, we just keep getting banger scene after banger scene! I was super afraid they'd go the miscommunication route but Maki and Haruta have grown so much and I'm glad the writing reflects that.
Bwahahaha Izumi-san's so melodramatic I can't! Also Kurosawa being genuinely caring and respectful of his ex-wife Choko is such a nice touch, helps explain why Haruta sees the Chief as a father figure. And Sukima Switch returning for the title song is chef's kiss!
I love how everyone is just so mind-boggled by the idea of a sweet, wholesome and non-problematic pairing like kurodachi. I honestly think bl tropes have broken us lol.
