it's fine but it could be improved a LOT

Great story from the novel, okay acting, and repetitive music.

I remember feeling butterflies in my stomach so often while reading the novel so many years ago, but I never felt anything similar while watching. It was not because of the acting. It was most probably because of the lack of chemistry and the editing. Following this latter topic, I believe the production company could train and invest more in the post-production and editors because it is a true waste of potential. They were not able to deliver the same way the novel did.

The story has many emotional scenes, yet all of them felt fleeting. The series did not succeed it making me feel any pain before they suddenly switch to a scene with emotions totally different from the dramatic segment.

This show also lacks a variety of music, instead repeating the same song again and again. I believe there should be background music when the scene so requires.

This is a drama series. But it was not edited like one. Just for comparison, the post-production result felt like a short story with only twenty minutes that was not given as much effort as it should with a full length series. I believe the Spanish lines could've been delivered more powerfully if they got speech coaches (or at least checked the pronunciations before shooting...).

This is based on a novel that everyone waited to have an adaptation of. People have already been disappointed for not having the actors they initially wanted. They refused to watch this because they believed it would turn out bad and/or won't have a good result. Still, I decided to give it a chance. Let me decide after watching everything, right? Well... I feel like Viva did not even try to satisfy the readers. Not sure if people who have not read the novel would like this, though.

Edit: Just finished ep 17 and lmao I want to know if non-novel readers understood what was happening because holy Usain Bolt, they want to rush the ending so bad, my score went from 6.5 to 5.5 real quick.

Edit 2: That last ep... lol I badly want to know the opinions of non-novel readers because I'm almost 100% sure they got confused big time all throughout the last two episodes.

did not enjoy it as much as i could've

too many scenes from the movie. the story is okay, but the repeated scenes make the movie seem like a filler for me. it could've been better if i didn't watch it, as i just felt like skipping the parts of the movie in this season.

the characters have also lost the highlights of their personalities in the first season. don't get me wrong; it has good acting and actors, but i liked the main couple for their chemistry and personalities in S1, with cairo being the cold and snarky mc and gav as the overly sweet and affectionate ml. in S2, suddenly cairo has lost his sass and there's no more witty banter between the two.

music-wise, i believe the songs used are good. however, the gap of the audio level of the bgm and of the dialogue is noticeably uneven. you'd turn deaf every time a song plays because it's too loud compared to the speaking voice of the actors.

Important plot point omitted

The story was good. The acting was mediocre, although leaning to a finer level. Certain scenes could use some background music, although in season 1 it is true that a particular moment had its highlight with a song. Anyway, I am just a little disappointed with how they dealt with the cause of their fallout. In season 1, they teased the second season with the misunderstanding in Shou Yi's pov, and yet in season 2, they do not even clarify or give more detail about what really happened in Shi De's pov because he does not remember. As a vital part of the plot, there could have been more elements added to it to avoid plot holes.
