Your review was so funny to read because your metaphors are so random but relatable. I liked the manhwa (was one of my firsts into manga/manhwa such, probably the reason I'm faithful to it till now) but exactly! The show is like drinking those horribly diluted iced lattes with a disgusting amount of sugar in between working on an important assignment. A short relief, but easily forgettable.
Okay please PLEASE go read the manhwa. That kinda sounded too mean hold on :") What I mean is that I've disliked this series because I had such high expectations for this show (as I'm a huge CBAW manhwa fan). The bullying towards Hae-Bom is pretty exaggerated, as it never got physical except that slap scene. They also made Hae-Bom a 'damsel in distress' when in the manhwa it isn't to that extent. The feelings between Taesung and Hae-Bom are taken slowly and healthily in the manhwa unlike the show. Idk of what I say is too rude, but this is a review site I guess. Their acting was dull and boring, with no chemistry to be seen. It has fluff all around, fluff for everyone! But even after they got together, that awkward weird energy just won't leave. I don't know if my review is influenced by having high expectations from the manhwa, but if I didn't read it I'd still give it a 3.
oh my gosh, the way I agree SO MUCH with you! I get attacked every time I bring up Tharntype in a negative light on TikTok, I thought that I was the only one who thought this way. This show has good looking actors yeah, but does it distinguish the fact that they're *horrible* characters? So so much homophobia and sexualization. What's worse is that the 'fans' of this show indulge in the r*pe scenes calling it hot, sexy, and so on. What the hell? I also recommend Lovely Writer, if you haven't watched it. It's a great show which defies stereotypes and definitely touches on the 'dubious consent' part of the bl fandom :)
