Beautiful, but too short
Oh, I really liked this mini-drama! I missed seeing Lee Soo Hyuk as the main protagonist. It was my first meeting with Lee Su Ji and I can not say I was really pleased all the time, but I liked her character. I loved the cinematography and the music was ethereal. Unfortunately, Handmade Love was too short and some scenes were a bit boring, others were epic tho. The concept was so interesting and I think they could have done so much more (not just 8 episodes of 10-20 minutes).If you are looking for something interesting and relaxing to watch, I really recommend this! It felt like a light and easy movie. And the soundtrack is magical.

Good actors, low execution
I really tried to like this, I really did. Actually the first episodes were great, but after episodes 8-12 I couldn't stand the show and I dropped it.Most of the actors did their job amazingly and they portrayed their characters as if they were alive. I have no comments on that and I applause their effort!
I started watching this drama because I love strong female characters who want to get into politics ahead of their time. Unfortunately, at some point the story went somewhere else and the plot wasn't focusing on the FL's ascension to glory. There were a lot of unnecessary scenes. I appreciated they wanted to portray feminine struggles of that era and maybe some of the subplots could have been interesting later, but there was something in this show that felt uncanny.
I mean I thought I was watching an AI drama or a poor-budget vertical drama a lot of the times. I've heard that they've had some problems with the budget, but also the script felt really weird. The dialogue didn't feel natural. Even the cinematography seemed inspired by those short AI dramas and there were a lot of static breaks between the scenes. A few parts were cinematic and I cared about what happened to the characters, but most of the time it couldn't interest me.
I'm disappointed because I wanted to find something like the Legend of Lu Zhen again but this was not it.

Dropped
Everything is very boring. The plot is practically non-existent, we only see how some rich people interact with each other and how the poor are mocked. There is nothing else. Also, these "high school teenagers" behave as if they are full-grown adults, actually I can't see them as 17-18-year-olds, but 25-30-year-olds because they behave very mature as if they have a thousands of responsibilities and secrets and it's not realistic at all. I don't know, maybe if it was a college drama, their behavior would still work, but not here. Some of the actors act well, but others have the same facial expression for three whole episodes, like they're confused vegetables. I had high expectations, but it's not worth your time.Was this review helpful to you?
