No. The novel on Wattpad has not even reached past Xia Yao going to find Yuan Zong in his home town. But the reunion,…
As someone who has read the novel, it definitely does go past the last episode. After that, Yuan Zong heads to America for treatment, gives his company away because he can't be a bodyguard or do his job anymore. Yuan Zong starts seeking the approval of Xia Yao's mother. Plus there's Xia Yao's party at the end. After that is the epilogue chapters which is based on just them wrapping up Da Yu and Zhi Shui's ending.
You ask why did they have to put Xia Yao in a well and that it's absurd but that's exactly what happened in the…
There are many gaps, you're right. If I hadn't read the novel I wouldn't have known where Zhi Shui's money was going towards. The show never even gave an explanation, there were things left unexplained, scenes that felt choppy and didn't even flow into the next. I do agree with you and it's a sad fact considering it had a great potential.
In my personal opinion I strongly believe it was a love confession, as do others. There was no way (in my opinion) that it was meant to be seen as a friendship. The jealousy, body language between them and reasons for their actions pointed to the obvious. There weren't enough scenes to show for that in season 2 though. But at the end we saw that Xia Yao had Yuan Zong saved into his phone as forever no.1. Also calling him "Da Dongzi" meaning "dumpling". All that fondness that was there between them. How Xia Yao tried to wind Yuan Zong up about the blind date, the jealousy that Yuan Zong felt when it came to Xia Yao and Xuan Da Yu.
I can only see this is BL. It showed love between these two. A romantic love. But if you would prefer to see this as a bromance then that's understandable. Of course the show can't be explicit BL, the ban of such content in China is higher than ever. But the show tried to display as much as possible that these two were in love. "I want to be with you." Yuan Zong already was with him physically, it was clear that Xia Yao meant he wanted to be with him in a romantic manner. Xia Yao had even discussed this with Peng Ze before about being with a man and should it matter as long as you're comfortable and they treat you well.
Yuan Zong stated before there was a reason as to why he did the things he did for Xia Yao. That answer was that he loved him. He didn't want Yuan Ru to have a chance and made sure. Why? Because Yuan Zong wanted him.
I'm sorry if I'm going on a bit, this was longer than I thought I'd write. Addicted was great, no doubt about it. Absolutely astonishing, pity it was banned.
Watched the episode 30 again (Just to be sure), and what do I have to say ? My liking for the series is no longer…
You ask why did they have to put Xia Yao in a well and that it's absurd but that's exactly what happened in the novel towards the end. In the novel it was during when they had broken up and the well scene was to bring them back together as a couple when Yuan Zong saved Xia Yao.
In the drama though they decided to have the well scene be Xia Yao's realization as to what his feelings for Yuan Zong really are. Hence, Xia Yao in EP30 crying in the well and saying "I want to be with you." Yuan Zong himself even confessed and said, "Yao er, I love you. For you I can do anything."
They could've chosen the bromance ending but decided to go with the BL end instead. I agree with you on the pacing for season 2 though, so many things that weren't needed. The second and third pair weren't even wrapped up properly. It ended on a cartoon because they hadn't cast anyone for the character Han Dong who is from Feng Mang.
woah, what happend? just how much did they cut in each episode? this is crazy. maybe someday not so far in the…
I don't know if you watched it unsubbed. But there was a confession in the final episode. Yuan Zong said he loves Xia Yao and Xia Yao said, "I want to be with you." A lot of people are presuming there was no confession because they watched EP30 without subs. Just putting it out there.
I really don't know if this is Boys' Love genre or not? :3
Considering this is from China, they can't explicitly show romance between two men. So it's more of a soft, implied BL. It's there but never spoken? If you get what I mean.
I'm really surprised you're disappointed by the latest episodes. I personally think they've been great and are…
Yeah I understand you. It is sad to see but you've gotta understand that it's literally the law there. They can't defy it. The country is very homophobic towards homosexuality and it doesn't seem to be improving either. So my expectations weren't too high anyway.
I'll take whatever I can get from this show. I've waited a long time for it and I'm just grateful I can finally see it, you know? We've had so many set backs now it's finally here and will be finished with airing soon. The plot of the novel also gets quite dark later on with some graphic scenes and im comparison to season 1 with how they've done everything and the pacing of the show it would seem out of place to try and tackle those parts of the novel now. So they're just going with the flow with the story.
It'll always remain in my top list though. I've grown attached to the cast and as someone who's waited a while to see this book adapted on screen, I'm just happy I can finally see it now.
I'm definitely not "highly disappointed" with this show though. I think it's been great and quite light-hearted but of course, that will change in these upcoming episodes as the Rival company becomes an issue.
I am highly disappointed by the episodes 20, 21, 22 and 23. I thought they'd "advance bravely" and make a frank…
I'm really surprised you're disappointed by the latest episodes. I personally think they've been great and are only getting better. The story is finally picking up now too. I have finished the novel and a lot has been cut out. Not just BL wise but also story but with limited episodes based on a novel that's 215 chapters they're managing.
Plus, the grave scene between XY and YZ that was shown back in December's AB fanmeeting is no longer in the show anymore which is good. And DY and ZS are confirmed to not be brothers. This doesn't feel like a bromance at all, it's obvious that there's this romantic atmosphere between XY and YZ especially. Anybody could see that surely? Sure there's no confession or anything but in their eyes it's so clear. This show is even being tagged as BL by the advertising of the official channels it airs on. Sorry this is a bit long xD
