Your review was very eloquent and relevant. I would say, however, that you should find a way to watch the final episode. It solves some issues previously mentioned in the show, and works out others. Just a suggestion if you want a full review for the show.
Regardless, I agree with the points you made about the abuse at the beginning. I wish they would have at least talked about it. Having that as an important conversation between two people that want to pursue a relationship is very important, it would have added to the character development. I think that's one of the only things this show is truly missing.

That and Lhong needed to be arrested-
