I don't think he would stay as an ally; there are a few reasons to believe that he would start to resent ML; firstly, he liked the thought that his brother depended on him. Secondly, he thought that the fight for the throne was between him and his younger brother. The first brother believed that he would win over his younger brother and that he was no competition for him. Also, he thought that he would finally get his mother to love him if he showed her that he could rise to the top.
He was more capable than his younger brother. finally, he is now thinking about how he can win over this new challenge that he was not aware of. ML's strength and health have been hidden from him. He believed he knew all his competitors and was unsure what he could do.
ML's recent display of success and skills had got him noticed by their father and showed his first brother that ML might be seen as one to watch in the race of who gets to be the crown prince. He is disappointed and rejected again by those he thought loved him. So more reasons for him to go against his brother. He is experiencing psychological trauma from his past and now this.. let's get ready to see him change in the next few episodes .. sad because I liked their brotherly relationship and bond

The principal leads are doing a great job, loving their chemistry. Zhao Lu Si is one of my favourite actors; she has matured, and also I love this genre, Romance and Wuxia. I will download the novel as I love the drama so much as the 4 days wait will be difficult, so reading in between episodes. You guys' comments added the love of the drama.
