From what I remember, no protagonists die in the novel, but they do go through a lot of dangerous situations. Shen Zhiheng, even though he's a vampire, almost dies and is in a really bad condition. When he finally wakes up from a coma, Mi Lan tells him she loves him, and he replies with 'I know.' So, it’s a pretty intense and almost tragic ending, but it ends on a happier note.

Yeah, it's quite a fluffy romance drama but not childish. It's not a typical high school/college drama, not focused on the FL/ML school life. Because the ML is older, FL has a mature vision compared to people her age. A comfort drama that warms the heart I'd say.
