I can't tell if Be On Cloud has an acting coach/director problem, or a casting problem (or both). I watched all…
Because BL tends to take place in either a utopia where homophobia doesn't exist or an idealized world where love overpowers utopia, dark thrillers are somewhat rare... but I do have a couple recs that you might enjoy!
1. Manner of Death (2020) -- Also written by Sammon (DFF, 4Minutes), a murder mystery in a rural town and a romance between the medical examiner and a mysterious, suspicious man.
1.5. Spare Me Your Mercy (2025) -- Another BL originally by Sammon in the same universe as MOD, with a different screenwriter. If you like one, the other will probably be of interest to you. Personally, I preferred Manner of Death for better pacing and a stronger BL narrative.
2. Shadow (2023) -- A psychological thriller set in all boys catholic school. After the loss of his mother, one boy begins seeing a shadow creature that seems to be revealing darker secrets about the school. The love story aspect of this one is less prevalent, but definitely still touched on.
3. 609 Bedtime Story (2022) -- A singer at a bar gets ill one night and has strange dreams of another man live in a room just like him. This one is a bit slower, more character driven than BOC's usual fare. This couple's chemistry may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I thought the cinematography was gorgeous and the story quite interesting.
4. Laws of Attraction (2023) -- A man's niece is hit by a rich man's car. The rich man's cutthroat lawyer is spurned and decides to switch sides in order to get revenge on his former employer. A bit on the campier side, but not, in my opinion, significantly more than Kinnporsche.
5. My Stand In (2024) -- Also directed by Pepzi (Kinnporsche), a stuntman is killed on the set of a foreign movie after his life falls apart. He is transmigrated into the body of another man and gets a chance to restart his life... but he can't help falling into old patterns.
6. Playboyy (2024) -- I have to warn that this one isn't realism. It is stylized in a way that hasn't been everyone's cup of tea, but personally I really enjoyed the neon and camp approach to a murder mystery. I truly loved the way this plot unwound and found, on rewatch, it held up.

(As an aside, all of these come from actors that do not work exclusively in couple pairs!)

Finally, it's not Thai and it's not even technically BL (this one is a bromance), but I have to recommend the kdrama Beyond Evil-- it's just really so phenomenally well done.

Looking forward, too, keep an eye out for: Reset (2025, timeline-bending thriller), Wicked Game (2025, bodyguard romance, seems dark/thiller-leaning?), Goddess Bless You From Death (2025, paranormal mystery), and Cranium (2026, paranormal mystery). These are all from actors or companies that I trust to do a quality job, though obviously I can't speak for these shows yet. Most of these have pilot trailers, if you're curious about them.

Generally, I'd avoid GMMTV thrillers if you are looking for a darker and more realistic thriller, but Melody of Secrets also looks somewhat promising to me.

And I thought company stans were just for kpop. Wow. A lot to unpack here! So let's dig in.

1. "not only the quality does exists in all of their work but also they have all the right to feed their ego bc they are the only one producing the level of quality you’re still complaining abt"

Agree to disagree. On an objective level, their production teams and writing teams are active in BL outside of BOC's work. Pepzi (and her teams) work on My Stand In is absolutely comparable to Kinnporsche. Sammon has produced comparable works with Manner of Death and Triage. Kijja Lapho has gone on to create similarly phenomenal costuming as Mansuang in The Loyal Pin, etc. Subjectively, there are many more wonderful production houses out there creating beautiful and inventive works like 180 Degrees Longitude Passes Through Us, Playboyy, Every You Every Me, I Told Sunset About You, Gelboys, Century of Love, etc.

And please understand these shows/companies aren't "better" than BOC--I'm not making a contest. But BOC is not in a league of their own. There are many talented artists out there producing equally good work. I would like to see BOC fighting to remain in that class rather than back slide with rushed scripts. weak endings, and poor direction.

2. "I really don’t see what bad acting of Fuaiz or whatever you’re referring to and who do you compare it with."

I don't dislike Fuaiz, you've misunderstood. I am expressing frustration that the coaching Fuaiz received from BOC (during the Hidden Character) asked him to unlearn "bad habits" from his "previous company," Nadao. The Nadao actors named are some of the most prominent and respected actors in Thailand. Billkin's latest movie, for example, was shortlisted for an Oscar (Yes, those Oscars).

I would agree that, generally, BOC is above average in acting talent compared to the BL industry as a whole. You could determine this by reading my review where I praised several of the actors. But, again, I don't think they are in a caliber all their own or that their choices cannot be critiqued. DFF had a lot more bad acting than Kinnporsche (though, again, if you'll read my review, I attribute that mostly to poor writing and pacing).

3. "You know why BOC actors couldn’t have as much success in the BL sphere? Bc BL sphere relies on pairing."

I'm not sure where you are pulling this thread from, because I've certainly never said anything about couple pairs or claimed BOC actors didn't or couldn't have success in BL. I am a huge proponent of actors being allowed to act with whomever and several of my favorite Thai actors have no set couple pair (or have changed partners several times). As BOC does largely promote in loose pairs, it's a pretty weak excuse at that.

4. " Look how disappointed some of you were when MAnsuang wasn’t a BL. You claim that you ove Perth, NOdt, TA etc"

I haven't said any of these things, either. Please don't replace my opinions with a generic BOC hater. I have specific issues with the production choices being made by the company. I was not disappointed with the level of queer identity in Mansuang. I haven't said anything about Perth or Nodt, and my comments on Ta are specific to this character (Phee). As an aside, Perth is quite famously from a viral couple pairing, but I'm getting the idea that that might be before your time.

5. "In conclusion far criticism is better, waiting for a company to produce as much quality as BOC does."

I don't have to wait. ^^ There's plenty of wonderful creative teams producing interesting and quality works right now. Arguably better and more interesting works than BOC--which was my original point. You're welcome to disagree with my opinions. You're welcome to 10 star love DFF. But my criticism isn't unfair or unfounded just because you don't like it. "The best that I've seen" would hold more weight if you had more than 6 shows on your watchlist.

Yes, production... such as casting, direction, show writing/selection, and production schedules. Elements involved in the creation of a show. Which I am critiquing... in my critique of the show. ^^

thanks for the review- you had some of the same issues I did with writing, pacing, use of flashback and acting.I…
I can't tell if Be On Cloud has an acting coach/director problem, or a casting problem (or both). I watched all of Hidden Character (the reality show where the prize was, essentially, a role in DFF) and the boys strengths in that show seemed to be completely ignored in casting DFF/4Minutes. For example, Jet's best performance by far was playing Porsche (Kinnporsche)... but they just keep throwing him at one-note villain roles.

They also kept mentioning how Fuaiz had previous training and learned "bad habits," despite Fuaiz's previous training/roles being under Nadao--the same company (and acting coaches) that taught Billkin, PP Krit, Tor Thanapob, Pond Ponlawit and many more actors. All of whom are quite considerably more decorated than anyone from BOC, and who, in my opinion, have given infinitely more nuanced performances.

Honestly, I think the lighting-in-a-bottle success of Kinnporsche gave them too high of an opinion of themselves and they aren't ensuring the same quality exists in other works. Half these actors have left the company, all of their shows end up delayed in production, the final results are messy... I'm still tuning in for Spare Me Your Mercy (Sammon's next, with One31) and 8Hours, though. So I refuse to learn my lesson :P

Libido what?
libido is the title of a song from the kpop group onlyoneof. the short bit of dance that khem watches uses the same choreography as libido.
