that was 100% a read of bl writers who just looooove the stepbrothers-as-love-interests trope lol i loved it
actual stepbrothers: the on1y one (taiwan), addicted (china), stay with me (different chinese adaptation of the same novel as addicted). adopted brothers or seen as brothers: unknown (taiwan), kiseki: dear to me (taiwan)*, history4: close to you (taiwan)*, cherry blossoms after winter (korea)

*can’t recall if actual stepbros or just raised together/considered brothers

this kept me from enjoying the show almost completely, but i don’t think it’s the actors’ fault exactly,…
there were “intimate scenes” but none of them seemed intimate at all.. that’s what i meant. like yeah, they eventually have sex, but everything is just so cold and mechanical. even with mashiro being so gentle and careful, the vulnerability of the characters in that moment never came through, it just felt awkward. same with the kisses — every single one of them seemed to be the first. there was always this slow-mo “i don’t think we should be doing this” sentiment and never the feeling of “i love you and want to feel you”. the characters seemed to be at arms’ length at all times. i think i misunderstood you the first time because it’s the characters that lack chemistry, not the actors

The series was overall cute until the end, but there was no chemistry between the actors. They looked more like…
this kept me from enjoying the show almost completely, but i don’t think it’s the actors’ fault exactly, it was mainly the writing and directing.. it was very strange how they didn’t really seem to have any intimacy at all. it was almost like two kids playing pretend. idk what the people responsible were trying to achieve but the final product was just really weird vibes overall 🤷‍♀️

guys, who is the guy who appears at the end of the episode, the one Kanade looks at and smiles at? i don't remember…
i think he’s one of the students that kanade envied in one of the earlier episodes for seemingly being free when he felt trapped and that he could never be happy? if that was really him, then now the roles were kinda reversed (though the boy felt more inspired than actually envied kanade). but even if it’s not him, he served the purpose for kanade to make the point that things can be tough when you’re young but that it gets better

Title The Promise of the Soul Spoiler
Watched it all. And i have a few thoughts. Many people write that it’s not beliveble that the grandsone gave…
cha thinking that hai yuan could be his dead wife reincarnated helped him get closer to hai yuan, but by the end it’s clear he loves hai yuan for who he is. and by the end it’s up in the air if he really is the dead wife. he could be based on his age, but it’s never flat out confirmed. it’s all tied to the theme of fate and soulmates of the show.

This drama is sweet, funny, and surprisingly touching. The banter between the leads and the way their bond grows…
finally someone that was able to capture the beauty and essence of the story. the show was about love, fate, past lives, soulmates, regrets, redemption and so much more. writing it off as just “grandpa falls in love with a college student” is a disservice and just plain wrong. it was SO much more than that. and it’s shown and literally said on the show how both of them were on the same level physically (with cha being in a younger body) and, more importantly, emotionally.

The blood types represent secondary genders, so alphas would have blood type A, omegas would have blood type O,…
omg i didn’t connect the letters of the blood types to the letters of the new genders 🤦‍♀️

is there any significance behind the origin story point that people with certain blood types stood a better chance at surviving the virus while people with other types were almost completely wiped out?

Even though l usually wait the whole drama just to get a tiny dead-fish kiss, this was the first time I was actually…
the kisses kinda matched the vibe of the show, but yeah, zero emotion.. i guess they tried to make them more interesting by making them super long, but that didn’t really help much lol

I really want to watch but the vertical shi ain’t made for me like I watched the first 2 episodes and I am intrigued…
cause of the popularity of tiktok… and reels… this is made for people that just wanna have something to watch on their commute to work or school (and/or with short attention spans lol). i hate the format as well but the show is short and enjoyable enough
